passed by my local store and saw this deal. picked it up for $80. i also notice online you can purchase the 4.0 amp kit with the charger for $100 and get a second 4.0 amp battery free.

if your committed to the V20 line this 2 pack for $80 is a great deal i do like this battery. regular price is $150.

in reality i am not liking the hog ring anvil on these items they keep going bad on the 3/8 and the 1/2 impact. never had these issues with the C3 line.

CRAFTSMAN V20 20-Volt Max 4 Amp-Hour Lithium Power Tool Battery Kit (Charger Included) plus free battery to choose at page $100

Debating to go with craftsman or ryobi.
Any feedback from users of each or both?

Ryobi has a bigger line, craftsman brushless are way better than ryobi's brushless(dewalt XR in red). Can't go wrong with either imo, do you want red or green?

Lol not a big fan of green color except in nature.

why do you say craftsman brushless is better than ryobi?

It depends partially on how many tools you're going to want or need. Ryobi makes 200+ 18v power tools. Craftsman has a fraction of that. Ryobi generally has better value for $. Just using this thread for example, you can get 2 Ryobi 4aH batteries right now for $40. Craftsman is $80 .

And I'm not knocking Craftsman. I own both.

Btw OP, This is a repost.

I watch too many tool versus videos on YouTube. One example - WorkshopAddict has a direct comparison of ryobi's HP 7 1/4 saw vs craftsman, and it's not close. That said I own some Ryobi stuff with a mix of dewalt and craftsman. If you are just diy it's not a big deal to mix brands, craftsman doesn't do some of the cooler niche stuff like Ryobi does.

You could really kit yourself out quite well with a ton of dirt cheap Ryobi stuff from direct tools(they are running another sale now), if price is a concern. For example I just picked up their 5 1/2 saw for $20 with free shipping, it's pretty weak and doesn't have a blade brake, depth of cut is also laughably low(it's the same max as my 4 1/2 dewalt saw). But it was only 20 bucks, I got what I paid for and I really can't complain with that type of value.
