Local honey 🍯 is the only way to go. As a cheap SOB it pains me to say it but pay more for local honey. Much of the store bought stuff is not pure.

As an apiarist myself, I find this deal suspicious. The packaging is about a dollar and bulk honey is about $2.5 a pound. Whoever is selling this does not make money unless the honey production is secondary and they mostly do pollination which can be bad for the bees that are pumped up with sugars and anribiotics and miticides. I would be surprised if this honey is 100% evaporated nectar from the flowers they state and also is free from pesticides and bactericide.... I bet it has some level of cane sugar (if you are lucky) contamination. When something is dirt cheap like that, you get what you are paying. The multiple origins of this honey is also highly suspicious. As for the questions I see above. Real honey coarsely filtered, unpasteurized not heated too much during the bottling process will never spoil because it kept all the enzymes intact, will have traces a pollen and also will crystalize. Warming the honey in mild water will reverse the process of crystallization. Buy honey from an apiarist you trust that produces honey as the main goal, feeds the bees when needed when the honey supers are not present and who is light in the pesticides and antibiotics. Make sure also the hives are getting only flowers from flowering plants that are not treated. So, stick with wildflowers honey and avoid honey produced as a secondary goal beside pollination. Avoid orange blossom and alike. Educate yourself before buying. Food is your first medicine.

It is also a very effective anti-bacterial. Apparently, it is NOT "just pure sugar."

Hard to say by the picture. It surely has crystalized but there seems to e some foam on top of the honey which might suggest some level of fermentation... Unless you shook the jar. Put in in a warm water bath and stir gently... Or use it as is. I like it when it is crunchy like this on a toast. Real raw honey will not spoil even after 1000s of years as attested by some found in Egyptian burials.

Absolutely. Enzymes, pollen are naturally found unless it has been heated too high and ultrafiltered. But, it is also mainly sugar and should also considered as such and unhealthy for some especially if consumed at high doses. Raw honey is normally between 6 to 15 dollars a pound. Some rare honey like manuka honey can go up to 60 a pound. I sell mine between 8 to 10 dollars a pound, gallon of honey is 12 pound and I sell it for 65 dollars, 5 gallon pail (60 pounds) for 200-250 dollars. Apiarists under the cottage honey rule cannot ship. They can deliver, sell at your event, or from home or from their apiary. Commercial folks have none of these restrictions.

The article means nothing. I asked you a pretty easy question.
All due respect what you state is opinion. You're impression of "it works" could be placebo affect. Correction, odds are great that is placebo affect. Even if others agree with you, I'm sure there are plenty who do. However unless you can produce an article that shows proof of a fact based study supporting that you're not providing anything more than an opinion.

If you can do that I'll gladly read it! So would many others here. In fact I would LOVE to see your thoughts proven right in a study because I would like to believe in those benefits. I'm not being sarcastic or snarky here. It would elevate this age old conversation.

However, replies like the one above just kind of reinforce that you're operating on an emotion because you really just want to believe in a concept that makes you feel good. A nice thought but not a fact.

You my friend are what I was crying for as I read through this thread. Some honest, well thought out, argument as to why the cheap option may be bad, instead of the normal opinion based rant.

Normal price is still very low at $7.50 but any thoughts on the chance this is a decent product at a super low price because Amazon is clearing it before it goes bad in the warehouse?

Side thought: My wife uses honey like crazy to make granola bars. We have tons of flowers in the yard thanks to her efforts also. Perhaps it is time for a new box here.

fyi- sugar, salt, vinegar, alcohol (and other stuff) ALL have antibacterial properties and are ALL some of the oldest known food preservatives. So yeah, honey does have antibacterial properties, but mostly due to its extremely high sugar content. Whatever the bees add to it makes it more flavorful and a bit more healthy. I doubt the bees do anything to make honey more 'antibacterial'. Infants less than one year old are not supposed to eat honey, due to a low level botulism risk; that does more good than harm to the rest of the population that's older than 1 year.
Anyone besides me having a honey cured ham for the holidays? Sugar plums?

Have you actually ever tried it? I have and know others that have as well. Your doctor is wrong.
You tried it, therefore you've confirmed the benefits of local honey? Please inform all scientists everywhere that their efforts are being wasted. You just need someone to try something and perceive a benefit that they fully expected before trying it. That's proof.

I am a beekeeper, if you are buying 1 pound of honey for less than 8$ then there is something going on with that honey. Boddle itself 1$.
You can't spell bottle and don't know where the dollar sign goes. I don't trust you. I've never looked into buying bottles for honey, but I'm positive I'd be able to find them for less than $1 each.
