Let's SEE!
199 dollars for 14 TB (14.21 per TB)
or
279 dollars for 16 TB (17.43 per TB)! 20TB difference between the 2 drives.
I'm thinking if it's 229 dollars for 16TB , that would be about right (same 14.21 price per TB)
Are you going to wait or buy at this 279 price?
As a proper data horder I bought 2 14s when they were 199 (#5 and 6 of my 14tb collection) so I'm personally waiting until the 18 are in or below the ~270 range before I grab 2 of those to replace some 8TB drives that are getting old in the tooth. It's worth paying a bit of a premium for 4 more tb before formatting (3.63 after), but for 2tb (1.81)??? Unless you're completely desperate or can't wait until black friday, it's not remotely worth it to me but YMMV.

It is really good to see the prices coming down, but it still doesn't beat the $200 14TB easystore price from last week. The more they are running these sales now, the more likely of an even better price for Black Friday.

The price has not come down and gone up the 14TB was $10 cheaper promoted @ 189.99 from end of Oct 2020 thru BF until Jan (just do a search), unlikely they are going lower than this higher price of $200
Bestbuy has been running these HD sales almost every year for the last 3 years use search and do your research and you will see

I'm aware of that, I already own several of these easystores from the last few years. I pick up quite a few each BF. When I say it is really good to see the price is coming down, I'm talking about coming down from the price hikes due to the Chia cryptocurrency earlier this year. And honestly, I'm just trying to keep a positive mental attitude that some of these things will get back to normal eventually. 👍

How about performance though?
Not 100% percent but heard the HDD gets better with these easystore drives as you go up the GB ladder.
Sixteen Terabytes?! Dang. I wonder who and or what occupation out there that actually going to use it? I can't think of any, not even medical doctor, no?
recycle an old hard drive, flash drive, sd card, etc at bestbuy store you can get a 15% code that stacks on top of sale price. I got a few $170 14TBs myself.

As someone who supports EMR applications, most medical chart information is text stored in a DB. Doesn't take up tons of space Until there are thousands of patients, Xrays can be a different story.
A graphic designer or someone working with raw 4k video could chew this space up pretty quickly.

Agreed. I picked up 2x 14Tb @ $200 but I'm waiting for the 18Tb to drop to $280 before filling up my NAS. I don't think the 18Tb is going much lower than $270, but I'll be happy to be wrong.
As for the 16Tb, this is an OK price, but I posted to be helpful if anyone needs 16Tb to replace parity drives. Hopefully we'll get some even better prices in the near future.
