That's the question asked every year, many times usually, unfortunately no one really knows until we get there.

Unless someone either.. a. works in a high enough position at a retail chain to know the pricing this year b. can contact the future.

The only thing you can really go on is price per TB, the pricing of the item last BF (if it was around then), it's pricing in the past year, and then really just your own gut feeling. (also desirability; do you really need it right now?) The truly safest play is when BF finally falls inside of the return window of the retailer.

I know it doesn't directly answer your question, but it's.. something.

However, if you care, I personally think that yes. it will get lower. Not a lot tho.

Does anyone know if the 10% off Chase offer will be triggered if I checkout via PayPal? I'd like to stack the 5X Chase Freedom Q4 bonus and the 10% Chase Offer.

seem to be sold out everywhere.

Bestbuy is playing games with people. If they want to compete with amazon then they need to have more than 2 drives available, or at least allow purchase on new incoming stock....

No one can predict the future, but I can tell you this is not the lowest price in the last few years. Do you need it now or you are waiting for the absolute lowest price?

Yeah, don't buy storage until you are at least close to needing it. That said, it seems like prices are trending up. For instance just a few months ago, the 18TB version used to sell for $300 at BB going on sale for $250 -- now it's $330 and seems like it goes on sale for $300.

Newegg (my source of last resort) has the drives at the prime price for those - like me - without prime. I really wanted the 18sm but had to settle for the 20TB drives because they were less expensive.

Their prices are good for about 6 more hours as of now so act fast if you want them - it's not all day/til midnight.

Be VERY careful buying drives from Newegg.
1) Their packaging was absolutely awful for a while, no clue if that changed.
2) They were selling OEM drives as retail for a hot minute as well, even going so far as to change the listing later on. Lots of angry people on reddit with screenshots of the former listing.
And this was all from Newegg itself, not a marketplace third-party seller.
Newegg is not even close to what it once was.

Of course. Why wouldn't this drive be compatible with Windows? It's just a drive in a USB enclosure.

Yup.As I said, newegg is my "my source of last resort".

I've had issues with newegg and drives in the past, and if I get a box that is damaged in any way, I'm sending them back... they have an extended holiday return period and if I have to I'll use it. I used to love them a long time ago, but then...... the chinese bought them and it went to hell with shady stuff all the time. I've also seen what they did to people on motherboards, etc. Slime comes to mind.....

I would have gone to BB, but they play games now with, no exaggeration, two drives available at the price advertised. I'm not a prime member and while I could have used someone else's account, I chose not to do that.

Prices keep going up so I didn't want to wait and find out I'd lost my chance, as I've been forced to offload data from my older smaller 12TB drives on to other drives to make space. I figured 18TB should give me enough space, but I wasn't willing to pay a premium for them. I'll keep the drives unopened and try to limp along moving data for a month to see if better prices pop up (always happens before BF, when they raise prices again to get the suckers).
