Just don't turn on the Multi User experimental feature in settings. In the latest firmware v34, it is now giving you an error when you try to run the same app at the same time on a single account. Even for games that explicitly allow you to do this.

Hope they fix it as for now it has ruined my 4-player Walkabout Mini Golf plans. We're already done it before, but v34 will break it if you turn on that setting, even once, and then turn it off again.

Best deal on a quest 2 so far. Gotta say I spend WAY more time on my quest than my xbox or playstation.

These blog compares it with smartphone and tablet use, says it MIGHT be worse (without studies or reference to that effect, pure conjecture) and implies it might lead to worse myopia long term, and that's all. Directly stating it causes "catastrophic damage" to the eyes because you read this was misleading to the extreme.

That said, I do think it's worth noting for children whose eyes are still developing. Same with smartphones though.

Neither.

It's $299+tax out of your pocket and free 50 dollar credit to shop at BB.

You don't need to link it to FB anymore. That was one of the big recent announcements.
Still need FB currently till they disable that requirement, which will take time for them to "update" and roll back; expected "sometime in 2022" which mean they are taking their sweet time after all of us Business people are yelling at them since Quest 2 launched that it was a stupid idea to force FB login.

No Facebook no meta or whatever he calls it in the future he got rid of it as a requirement. Probably figured out all the sells he's missing out on. I didn't buy one I bought a HP reverb g2 instead because of that. Better headset anyways

No sense in spending so much money for extra gb. Just delete your games when you are done using them
Thank you. Wasn't sure how many games would fit in a 128.

I would agree with the other comment that the extra GB isn't worth the extra money, especially when it is effectively $150 difference with this deal. I bought the 256 with strap from Costco when they first came out, but at that time it was a choice between 64 and 256. The Quest games get downloaded to the headset and can be deleted and re-installed. If your son has a gaming computer, he can play PC VR games with a cable or wirelessly, and those won't take any extra storage in the headset. There are a lot of free games and experiences, but do plan to set aside a little more money for games to go along with this, as you would when purchasing any gaming console.
Thank you. Good info and sounds like I can save some $$ with the Best Buy deal then.

I'm not sure 256gb is necessary unless he's downloading a lot of content, which gets expensive. I typically use mine when it's connected to my PC, which improves the graphics for many of the applications. The strap on the headset is pretty uncomfortable and the battery dies pretty quickly, so I think the upgraded headstrap and extra battery (which sells for $130) is more necessary than the extra storage. Sam's Club sells the 128gb version with elite strap and extra battery and carrying case for $379. You can also get a reasonably priced extended warranty from Sam's Club or Walmart, which I didn't see available at Costco (the extended warranty from Best Buy is outrageously expensive). If you happen to have a Costco credit card it will add an extra 2 years to the extended warranty (I have 5 years of warranty by using the Costco card and purchasing an extended through Sam's Club). I'm not sure if this falls under Costco's 90 day return window like most electronics or whether it's lifetime, but either way I doubt it will last 5 years with a lot of usage. Just something else to consider. I don't think it's worth the extra $100 for more storage, but the strap and carrying case is almost necessary IMO.
Thank you for bringing up things I had no idea about. I'll look into the Sams club deal as well.

Such a good deal. Even at just $300 it's killer. It's completely supplanted my Index. The wireless with Airlink just works so well.

I used my deluxe audio strap, 3D printed the attachments for it. Then use a power brick on the back as a counter weight. All in all it's extremely comfortable. I bought the Vive Cosmos case because it's the only one that fits it. Also highly recommend the Kiwi VR straps.

I'll attempt to link with smile, but it may not allow me

Ah, that's what I would normally do, but wasn't sure if they were tracked by serial like some consoles are.
If you order online •I BELIEVE • you are good.

In store almost defiinitely will have serial .# in receipt. But no
