Just don't turn on the Multi User experimental feature in settings. In the latest firmware v34, it is now giving you an error when you try to run the same app at the same time on a single account. Even for games that explicitly allow you to do this.

Hope they fix it as for now it has ruined my 4-player Walkabout Mini Golf plans. We're already done it before, but v34 will break it if you turn on that setting, even once, and then turn it off again.

This was NEVER $349 and always $299. Still a great deal but it's not $100 off. It's regular price with a bonus $50 Best Buy gift card.
The $349, I believe, includes the cost of the $50 gift card. So it's a $349 value for $299. It's just how Slickdeals does things, I believe. I could be mistaken, but I don't think there's anywhere to put the original price when making a post.

Must be launching a new headset soon..
Not until next year.

This is more likely (supposedly they are already not making money on these) an attempt to get the Quest 2 in the hands of more people thus spurring development of more apps. If the app/game devs cannot make enough money to justify making games/apps for VR then VR will fail. The most headsets, the more profit made and the VR community grows.

Most companies do not have the deep pockets to lose money on a venture like this. Sony/Microsoft does the same thing with their consoles. Loss leaders used to boost people into buying the consoles so they can make money on the software fees.

I hate Facebook with all my heart but I wonder how long Oculus could have continued without the deep pockets of Facebook in order to keep selling VR at either break even or a loss. There is not currently enough fees for the few million owners to generate enough profit off of fees alone to justify the huge cost in producing these things as well as development.

You have to understand that until the Quest 2 came along, the next non Quest headset was almost twice the price. This is only cheap to get people to buy them and increase market share... not a closeout sale or a failed product they are trying to get rid of.

I understand but it does mislead people into thinking this is a much better deal than it actually is. In fact it's actually retail price but Best Buy is tossing in a gift card. As I said, still a great deal as you can use that gift card to buy something else but the end result is that you are still paying the very same list price for the product.

i currently have an old oculus go that i use mainly to watch cool 3d videos. Is the quest 2 significantly better in visual quality if that's all I use it for?

For those not familiar with this headset, it's extremely flexible on how you can use it. PC or no PC.

You can use it in Standalone Mode, where no PC is required, but you're limited to Quest compatible Oculus store games, but also allows you use the headset almost anywhere.

Alternatively, you can connect to a PC (cable or wirelessly), with full access to SteamVR games and Oculus store PC games, but will need to buy a cable or at least have a good WIFI router.

If the headset is a big investment for you, I'd ensure there are some VR games you or your family intend to play a lot, or alternatively, have a decent PC, so it's easier to get access to 'free' and other 'obscure' games.

I get that. But there are people blaming the poster, but I think it's an issue with Slickdeals. I could be wrong, though. But I double checked and I didn't see anywhere to put an original price. Just the final price. So I don't think it's the poster's fault.

I don't know anything about these VR headsets but my son wants one for Christmas. Should I buy the 128 or 256? Are the games all downloaded into the headset? Costco has the 256 with a carrying case of Costco warranty for $399.
Just a though. Go and try out a VR headset. IMO they are crazy fun on a whole different level. You may want to get one for yourself.

Anyone have used this to play the Beat Saber game ? How's the experience ?
I love Beat Saber - not only is it fun, it's also a great workout! It's the game that convinced me to buy the first Quest headset in the first place.
