Referrals are not allowed. This includes posting referral links, asking for a referral, PMing referrals, having a referral link in your signature, or linking to any & all sites that contain referrals. It doesn't matter what kind of referral it is or whether you both get something out of it. This is a zero tolerance policy. Thanks!

If do not want to use Facebook (aka. Meta) account, you can use Oculess. It works pretty well. https://github.com/basti564/Oculess
A sideloadable tool that lets you unlink your Facebook account from Oculus Quest.
Features
- (Temporarily/Partially) Remove Oculus / FaceBook account (only use for disabling updates and telemetry)
- (Fully) Log Out of Oculus / FaceBook account (aka. Disable Oculus Companion)
- Disable telemetry
- Disable Updates

Video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIwUvtx
Pros and Cons:
- The catch is you'll lose access to Oculus Store apps because the entitlement check used upon launching them will no longer function.
- System apps like Oculus TV and Browser will also no longer launch, and casting won't work.
- You can still sideload hundreds of apps from SideQuest [sidequestvr.com] though, and if you want to keep browsing the web in VR you can sideload Firefox Reality [github.com].
- You can still use Oculus Link to play PC VR content, but only if you stay signed into Facebook on the Oculus PC app.
- Virtual Desktop won't work because it's a store app, but you can sideload free alternatives such as ALVR [github.com].

Hope they fix it as for now it has ruined my 4-player Walkabout Mini Golf plans. We're already done it before, but v34 will break it if you turn on that setting, even once, and then turn it off again.

I also got the referral credit after activating my new Quest 2 and saw the following for my account on the website:
- max earnable referral per month is 20 instead of 5
- referrer passes out one generic referral link unique to the referrer that can be found on the web interface/website, instead of generating unique referral link for each recipient in the mobile app where the recipient has to be a fb friend.
I updated thread wiki with:Those who take advantage of the $30 referral program have time to wait for deal bundles and deal of the day offers. Just build up your wish list and you'll get notified when price drops occur
With the plan to phase out FB account for Quest, I'd rather not have to lock myself in at this point and if I can use my Oculus account that would be ideal. Any idea?

You had to have activated the Quest 2 before they forced the new requirements. If it wasn't for the referral program, which is only valid for FB accounts and not Oculus accounts, I never would have migrated over.If you do want to keep your personal FB account out of the equation, you could create an 'alternative' FB account that you only use for Oculus -- which I currently do. Keep in mind that all purchases will be associated with that account though, but with the new direction of Meta we may be able to split the FB account from the Oculus account once again.
This is especially handy if you take advantage of the referral program to get the free $30 credits (perfect for programs like Virtual Desktop or Beat Saber).

The referral program right now is different through 12/31 from usual where
- max earnable referral per month is 20 instead of 5
- referrer passes out one generic referral link unique to the referrer that can be found on the web interface/website, instead of generating unique referral link for each recipient in the mobile app where the recipient has to be a fb friend.
