Has anyone used silicone storage bags? They are reusable, which means no more throwing away plastic. I imagine you save a boatload of money over time. I guess I just wonder how resilient they are. How many times can you re-use them?

They are just hard to clean, and you can never clean them good enough to reuse for certain things.

I use reusable ones for school lunches. Although not silicone, just regular plastic, I have had the set for over a year and the design (a tiger face) is still perfectly in place and the plastic has held up well. I believe they will last another two years and until my daughter outgrows them. We got ours from Kohl's. I will say that they are hard to clean and dry because I don't feel safe putting them in the dishwasher (they might melt?) and when they are left to air dry you will be waiting days and days, propping them open on things to keep the plastic from touching so the water doesn't dry. Easier to just wash quick by hand and dry with a dishcloth. We do have silicone ice pop sleeves for homemade pops and the bags are the same texture. I chose reusable plastic bags over the silicone because I thought it would get scratched or dented. If you're using them as an adult they're probably fine but 8 year olds are hard on things. I also worried about the zip top closure not being as good over time. The plastic ones show no signs of wear. Just my two cents. Hope that helps.

I have used them. Yes, it's a little more inconvenient to not just throw everything away everytime that I use it, but I value it. If you're referring to 100% silicone, they will last for a long, long time, and the dishwasher would be no problem for them given that many people use silicone for baking mats and harsh chemical environments.
