The 4k fire stick max is comparable with the cube. $80 for 2019 hardware is not a good deal imo. It has a faster processor than the 4k max stick, but the 4k max stick is also only $35 and includes the Gen 3 remote. I think if you're looking to get an Alexa, then it makes sense to get the cube. Though during Xmas and BF, Amazon loves to bundles echo shows and dots and practically free. I still have a few dots from last year that I haven't opened.

They need to fresh the cube with better hardware specs.

It feels like a lot of you haven't even bothered looking up the comparison charts that show all the fire devices running various benchmark programs. The Fire Cube 2 is only bested by the Shield Pro. The Firestick Max 4k comes in notably behind the Fire Cube 2. It may be a bit closer in real world performance, but my guess is that the Cube 2 is likely still the clear winner. Still, if you get the Max for less than half the price, that's tough to argue with.

I have gen1 and thinking about upgrading. This is a good streaming box for people with AV setups who wish to control it with their voice. Otherwise you should just get the new stick

Is it worth it to get the new remote (Gen 3) over the old one?

BBY has the Cube with Gen 2 remote for 20% off. No trade-in is required. I can keep my 3rd gen fire TV for use elsewhere or resale.

For the Gen 3 remote, the best deal seems to be this one but requires a trade-in. Worth it from a functionality perspective?
