if using cash you can get as many cards as you like at the same store. If you are paying with a credit card, the limit at each dollar general store is $500. If you try and buy another on your credit card or a different credit card then it triggers a fraud alert and locks out their register. You can however go to a different dollar general location and buy another $500 on credit card.
last year had to do something with the app and clipping the coupon... that was a pain, I don't know about this year. Used to be 20% off lowes but I'll take what I can get!
Not at mine in Indiana. They have sales on gift cards every once in awhile and we never had steam. I was there there last week and didn't. I was checking because they had 10% off select ones then.

Only buy $500 (on a single gift card) from any single store. If you want more than $500, then you're going to have to split it between two stores. $1500, go to 3 stores, and etc.
If you try and buy another gift card after the $500 one (doesn't matter the amount), you'll be flagged and the DG cashier will receive a message on their station to call their corporate office because you're likely a scammer, or being scammed...so just don't buy more than 1 at a store. It'll work perfectly fine if you buy $500 at the next store 3 miles up the road, then another 3 miles further up the road after that.
But yeah, totally bought a new lawn mower with gift cards purchased from DG last year. Then sold some to a buddy cause they wanted a new washer/dryer.
