I purchased this last year, at the same price, to use around the house. They're pretty damn good for light-mid work. I used the little circular saw a lot. So light but powerful enough to cut through 2x4s and 3/4 plywoods just fine. It doesn't cut as fast as my worm drive Skil but it'll do the job if you have some patient. The impact driver is decent, it gets bit heavy after driving in about 20 screws, especially if you're driving something from below. The drill is a tad weak but again, have a little patient and it'll put a hole wherever you want it to. I haven't used too much of the hack saw beside pruned the lilac bushes behind the house a few times. It cuts. hahaha. The multi tool is pretty weak. If you put a bit of too much pressure, it'll stall and won't do a good job. All in all, this is a good set at a great price. It'll do great if you only use them for light-mid jobs around the house.
Total BS. Please stop with this nonsense. Many of us here have used NON-brushless tools for 20+ years doing DIY renos, decks, piers, auto work, flips, etc. without any issues. Hell, I have friends in the trades still plugging away with their old brushed tools day after day, year after year.

The actual truth is that 99.9% of DIYers will be just fine without EVER owning a single brushless tool, let alone a top of the line brushless set. If used and cared for properly, most brushed tools will do the job, and probably outlive their owners.
Do not know much about this combo but was this the same deal for 179 after free tool hack. Is there a major difference between the different tool combo. Also the one posted has no free tool but got a similar combination of tools in this link. https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI.../318353927

It's a good deal, rep given, but I'd advise purchasers to get the HP Ryobi deal instead

Ryobi High Performance (brushless) tools... there are also HP batteries which allegedly offer the best performance.

All Ryobi HP tools are brushless, but not all Ryobi brushless tools are in the HP line.

I bought this kit for around this price before all of the brushless/HP stuff started coming out in sets.

Still use everything a couple years later. Nice to see it looks like the crappy light it used to come with was replaced with the newer LED. I have both, the LED is much better.

For the person only occasionally reaching for a tool for a project and then not using it for a few weeks/months, I'd strongly suggest this set.

If you're planning to be out in the workshop or doing small home repairs every other weekend, decent starter kit for the Ryobi ecosystem. It's where I started, and I built from here.

If you're looking to get into big projects on a regular basis, might want to go with a more expensive One+ HP kit with brushless tools.

When I purchased the combo, i thought they shouldn't count a flashlight as a tool. However i liked the flashlight so much and i end up buying two more flashlight.

I bought a second light as a cart filler when I was a couple bucks shy of a free drill on a DTO sale a couple months ago.

No regrets on the second light or drill. Now I have the spares under the kitchen sink for when we just need one in the house for a few minutes instead of having to get one from the garage. (We have the stick vac, hand vac, and glue guns in the house, so there's already batteries and chargers around.)

On the Ryobi tools at least the drill they give you a magnet and a level on the back of the drill.

These two little features have helped me so much especially when I need an extra pair of hands to hold additional screws or to get a perpendicular hole, I discovered them by accident and I love them.

While the DeWalt compact atomic series, does NOT have a level or a magnetic holder for the screws in their drill, ironically it's more expensive so I don't understand how this could be considered a starter series, when Ryobi put so much thought into their tools.

Bought this set + the orbit sander 3-4 weeks ago when they sold for $199. Ended up returning the sander for $47 so the set cost me exactly $152. So far I tried the drill, driver and the circular saw and they are not bad.
