They had both this Slim Pro 7i and Ideapad 5 Pro on display at my store.. It seemed like the Ideapad 5 had more plastics, including a plastic trackpad. As far as what you get by paying $200 more for the Slim 7i Pro, you get an all-metal build, Thunderbolt 4, 400nit higher resolution 90hz screen, and 1tb SSD vs 512 on the Ideapad.. You do get a HDMI and microSD reader on the Ideapad 5 though.. I'd probably be happy with either machine, but I do enjoy using Thunderbolt storage and connecting eGPUs on occasion so the Slim 7i Pro was a better choice for me.. Plus the brighter screen is gorgeous on the Slim 7i Pro.

Specs are very good on this, hard to beat plus this is Intel EVO. I would be all over this if it was a Two-In-One. I'm planning on the Surface Pro 8 deal even though this processor beats out the one on the Surface 8

Yes the $1199 SP8 i5 package is a really good setup and should be of better quality on the whole (I have a i7 model). I will be comparing the Slim Pro 7i later today if they have them in stock.

Also the speakers are on SP8 are amazing, I doubt the Slim 7i Pro will be close at all quality-wise.

We love to see a 400nit 16:10 panel at this price range. All metal build too.

The keyword here is "ideapad" and that's all I need to stay away from this laptop.

Just picked one up during lunch for my 10 year old. Perfect for what I wanted. Light gaming laptop for Roblox/Minecraft/Fortnite. He is slowly transitioning away from his 11 iPad Pro to gaming on PC. Might have to pick up another one knowing how my 7 year old gets jealous.

Is this a good deal for a work laptop? Don't do any gaming but do a lot of python scripts and always have a ton of browsers open.

It been on Costco book but no one was talking about it. Nearest laptop with about same spec is around 1500$ or am I reading it wrong? Nice deal IMO.
