If you're Verizon or AT&T customers (even their MVNOs like Visible, Unreal Mobile, Cricket, etc.) and interested in getting $25 added to your Mint account, please DM me for more info before you take the plunge.

Tomorrow I will be returning to Mint by activating my new 3 month SIM. I have been away for less than 90 days so I know I can not activate using the phone I had with them previously. I have two options as I see it:

1. Try activating using the method where you input the phone brand and model to bypass the IMEI requirement.

2. Activate on an older phone that I have not used with Mint in over a year.

I would prefer to use option 1 but want to ensure that I will not have any reason for them to decline my bonus 3 months.

Thanks.

can I use 7-day TRIAL kit/SIM that comes with Mint 6-month deal SIM (with 3-months free) to try Mint service BEFORE activating primary 6-month deal SIM?
Will 6-month deal/SIM still be valid?
Thanks

Normally, no. If you use the trial sim, you're no longer a "new customer".

The only way is if you have 2 phones that have never used Mint; use one to try out the trial sim, then go buy the deal sim (don't use the other sim that comes with the trial sim).

OP you should have posted up the recovery fee for some places where this plan is bought. I bought mine through Mint and I could have saved $10.xx going with Best Buy.

Well, that's unfortunate. I just started my trial before seeing this since TMobile service used to be notoriously bad where I live.

This is incorrect. I just signed up with Mint and was going to start service. I still had a couple of days of service on my previous provider and was working on establishing my old number. They call it "porting the number". I entered the correct info asked. Which was;

- account # aka IMEI #
- your pin number on your previous provider
- billing zip code. I never had a bill and thought this was something else with previous provider (California Life Line). This kinda messed me up. Mint should have asked for "owner zip code", but no.

So anyways went back and forth with Mint, Net10 and me on a 3-way call. Finally all the info was entered correctly. BTW, the error message was "Invalid pin". Which it wasn't. It was incorrect zip code.

So during trying to get things resolved, I ran out of time on my previous provider and didn't want to start service with sim card from Mint with a random number. So I started using the sim card with the 7 day trial cause I was basically without phone service. So finally the numbers got straighten out. Mint ended up starting my account even when I didn't have phone service. Basically when I created my account. In that period I also was using the trial period sim card.

So right now service seems to be OK Got my old number working with service. Haven't really used it all that much. There's no way I'm sticking around with their regular priced service. The $45/6mt I can tolerate them.

Could you please specify what zip code they expect for activation?
I expect issues here also.
Thanks

Use your own zip code. Pretty much whatever zip code you used for signing up with the provider before Mint. Like I said, they should have just asked for owner's zip code.

Also make sure you avoid the recovery fee. I'm pretty sure it is mentioned here a few times. It's a $10.xx savings.

So, if you buy the $45 card at Target or Best Buy and you only get 3 months of service, you are SOL, right??

You should see the +3 months on your account after you activate.

Will this work in a pixel 2 even though mint website doesn't list it as compatible?
