I have been keeping an eye on this one for my son because he wanted the 17" screen. It lowered to $799 tonight. Seems like a pretty good deal for the specs. I believe the lowest price recently was $780.

I bought this a month or so ago. I can play games on medium to high. I added an extra 16GB of Ram. I like it.
Two questions
Can you hook two monitors usb-c+hdmi?
Did you get 3200MHz off your ram or 2666 since this rig does not support XMP?
And if you get 3200, what ram did you got? Unbuffered non ecc?
TIA
Hey man. I'm reading conflicting reports. Is the usb-c thunderbolt or just regular usb-c? TIAā¦.
Thunderbolt 4 only with Intel Core i7- that's the Intel messaging. Not sure if OEMs would build a separate inferior board for all i5
But only i7 will be branded with Thunderbolt 4

Dudeā¦ you have no idea what you're talking about.
There are at least 3-4 i5 laptops in Hot Deals right now with TB4. Here's just the first one that comes up:
That's what I said .. OEMs will not bother to build a separate board for all i5 laptops (and more-so with the covid disruption to supply chain)
but the direction from Intel is "Only advertise TB4 with i7 processors"
And the post you referred from Suryasis clearly says TB4/USB-C , the i5 version is USB-C .. not marked as TB4

I might bite on this over the G15 for 783$ on dell despite having $120 off as well just for the larger screen size!

This ASUS ticks quite a few boxes for me.
Hexacore i5
Expandable RAM
Nice screen
Backlit keyboard
Only cons are size and battery life. But this is primarily going to be docked with very rare transport.
The only other question I have is if this one comes with TB4. The Tom's review said that it does. Other places don't specify.
