Sam's has me questioning why I have a Costco membership. Stupid Costco… online prices are higher than in store. 😒

It does… however I would incorrectly load the dishwasher & the compartment door would half ass open cause it'd be blocked by pots & pans.

It doesn't go in the detergent compartment?
I watched a youtube video. They suggested to throw it at the bottom of the pan. Ever since then no water marks and no stains!

These clean well. But I recently found out these are really toxic chemicals that are carcinogenic . Trying to switch to non toxic dishwasher and laundry detergents.

Just say no to pods. Normal powder is cheaper and works as well (if not better due to multiple cycle filling).

That's a good deal, but I've moved away from these to regular liquid detergent largely due to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rBO8neWw04 He's absolutely right. Nerdy, but right. I still like the Cascade brand, and I even get it from Sam's, just not the pods anymore.

Any tips on preventing soapy smells on plastic containers using this detergent?

I'm not a fan of these. I got them last time and they don't always dissolve even after running hot water before starting the dishwasher.
Never experienced this. Only happens if the door that holds the detergent does not fully open. I load the dishwasher to make sure nothing blocks the door, some flip up some out and up so you have to know how they open while loading the dishes.

He issued a retraction in a follow-up video.

The truth is that the first cycle is solely to clear the dishes of gross food particles before the real washing longer cycle begins. Will the dishes be cleaner if that first cycle had the aid of a little detergent? Well ,of course. But that's beside the point. You don't stop washing dishes after that cycle. The detergent in the regular cycle will more than clean the dishes.

stopped using pods, right back to using gel or powder for me

there's absolutely no benefit to the pods except convenience, it's just more expense and taking up more space per package

Pods are more wasteful, less effective, and more expensive than using powder. The slickest deal is to just get powder according to this video: https://youtu.be/Ll6-eGDpimU

EDIT - I believe Cascade Platinum was the highest rated dishwasher detergent by Consumer Reports *other than* Sam's Club's Members Mark... but, Sam's Club stopped selling their Member's Mark detergent that was top rated by CR. So, that means that the next best, Cascade Platinum, as I recall, is now the best you can buy.
June 2020 was the date for that exact order/listing.

Good luck!

You may do well to seek out a product recommended in the June 2020 CR specifically as Free of Synthetic Fragrance: Seventh Generation Ultra Power Plus packs.

I've never used the product above, but have had a similar positive experience with Method's phosphate free product (which had previously garnered recommendations from CR), though that always mandated the intermittent soak and scrub for my clear plastics after a white film would develop to a point.

Good luck!
Jon
