I am just coming late to the party on the induction cooking tech.. Mom has one on her new stove. It is pretty cool and I love how it works. The only dowside is mom was quick to show off the pots and pans needed to use the tech. How cheap can you get a say small and large frypan and a 1/2 and a 1 gallon or so cookware kit.. I know it has to be made of iron..
The stove was $2k and the pans she bought were another $300 yet she bosted on what a good deal it was..
Can you pop corn on this stuff? The glass these things have on the top looks fragile when I think of all the heat.

A Tri Ply stainless steel fry pan is probably $20 to $30 and works with a $70 portable induction cooktop. A Tramontina Tri Ply set probably costs $100 to $150 via a slickdeal

.
Take a magnet with you when buying pans and if the magnet sticks to the bottom, that pan will work. Most new pans will say if they work on induction, because the clad pans are hard to tell just by looking at them. The magnet test has never failed me.
Keep in mind the OP is 1440watts total for both burners which makes sense for the normal 110-120v 15 amp wall outlet. A maximum setting of 10 for either burner pulls the maximum load. So if you want to use both burners at the same time, use any combination that adds up to 10, or a bit less such as 5 and 4. Otherwise, the burners are going to cycle on and off until that 'safety' feature wears out. If you have two different electrical circuits you can plug into, it makes more sense to me to buy two of the single units.
