I purchased from Amazon for price protection in case it drops lower in the next few weeks. Amazon has the special holiday return period. I'm surprised this deal isn't getting more attention, sure its not the lowest price ever (it was $289 last year) but it seems like a decent discount and is the lowest price ever on Amazon. This NAS is the direct competitor to the Synology 720+. Perhaps most folks are Synology fans instead and prefer the cheaper DS220+?

Interesting though it looks like QNAP raised the MSRP on this a few months ago. All the old reviews say $369 but now all the websites lists the regular price as $419.

I've owned both Synology and QNAP NAS for over 10 years, I would highly recommend to get a NAS at least with an Intel/AMD quad-core CPU. There is a big difference between dual-core and quad-core. Also 2.5G ethernet is the new 1G, this should be a better buy than DS220+ IMO.
