Pretty much sure you bought FX706HE with 3050Ti (reg $999, was on sale for $799)
This one is FX706HC with 3050 (not Ti version, reg $899, on sale $679)

The title of this deal states 3050 Ti. It should be 3050, not the Ti version.

Edit: OP corrected the title

For only 80-100 more than most budget Black Friday gaming laptop deals isn't this a no brainer? Most this others are rocking 1650, 15 in screen, and 10th get cpu… this is a significant upgrade in comparison. If you're on a budget looking at entry level gaming laptops you can't beat this price.

The GeForce RTX 3050 appears to be absolutely abysmal at ray tracing even though RT is literally in its name

Normally when manufacturers quote max Ram size, that is basically the maximum size they sell that model with. Actual supported Ram is decided by the CPU in use and the number of available memory slots. All the 11th Gen H series Processors, including this one, supports up to 128GB of Ram. This Laptop has two slots, so you can go 64GB using two 32GB sticks, which is the maximum DDR4 module available right now. If somebody comes up with 64GB module, believe me, it will support 128GB, using two 64GB stick.
Quote from zephyrprime :
A lot of times even the manufacturer's stated max ram is wrong and sometimes they even come out with higher rank ram that lets computers have more ram than they were designed to have. I would expect that it has the typical max ram for a laptop with the same processor as it since the ram controller is directly on the cpu nowadays. The one thing to look out for is soldered ram which would limit you.
edit - I googled it and this model supports 64gb
Thanks to both. I've been burned once on this. Even the memory manufacture confirmed it with me before I made the purchase, it didn't go. Sigh, I wish things can be simpler 🤷

According to Intel [intel.com], it's 32GB max.

Dang. Can anyone confirm if this has Thunderbolt? With the other version of this with the 3050ti there was conflicting information, same with this one.

I don't think it has any 2.5" Bay but it has another M.2 Slot and both of the slots are upgradable. Normally in Gaming Laptops, you don't often see soldered storage.
Finally, ASUS's site is up. In the "FX706HC/HE/HM Upgrade Guide [asus.com]", as OP stated, there are 2 M.2 slots. Slot 1 supports Gen4, 2 supports Gen3. Neither supports M.2 SATA drive. No mention of max RAM in this doc.

It sounds like that benchmark bottle-necked performance due to overloading the memory and bus at 1440P.

I'm wondering how it really stacks up if you're staying in 1080 territory. But definitely sounds like you don't want to use a 1440 monitor with this one.

In for one as a gift. I'm going to call this deal as the best bang-for-buck I'll see this holiday season. Not the level of performance of a $1500-$1900 laptop, but close to a $1000 laptop imho. Just enough to get it out of the GTX 1650 / 10th gen i5 "budget" gaming range (we'll see plenty of) and able to handle 144hz.

Closest deal I found that would give you better GPU is about $150 extra. But screen is only 15.6in and120Hz. Also last gen CPU Ryzen 7 4800H. Has AMD RX 5600M 6GB GDDR6. Would this config be worth $150xtra? https://deals.dell.com/en-us/memb...etail/bk0j

Can this work for iracing? I got my PS5 for other things. Just need a basic rig for iracing. On a 35" ultra wide 1440p display.

Is there a 2nd HD slot? Is M.2 upgradable? What's the max capacity? TIA
TUF with 1650 and "old" style logo was the last one with slot for ssd, if I am not mistaken. Any newer models with TUF letters on, comes with second M2 slot and with unknown space big enough to fit ssd, but there is no connection on mobo for it. Better use this space to fit bigger battery, but oh well... So to answer your question there is another M2 slot for secondary drive and as usual two slots to upgrade ram.

I have older Asus TUF gaming laptop with 1050Ti and have to say the build quality is really good. I opened it after 3 years to check on dust inside and it was pretty clean. I use that dust spray from time to time and that's it. I got a Dell G15 2months ago and the Asus feels more sturdy. Next laptop will be again Asus TUF.

From all the reading I have done here on SD, there is not a lot of performance difference between 3050 and 3050Ti. However it seems to be a big performance improvement bewteen 4GB GDDR6 vs 6GB GDDR6 in games. Also forgot to mention that I will be playing casually games like Halo Infinite. Thanks

Hey man, thanks. TU and repped. Is that a sticker that is on the laptop indicating that it's TB?

Unfortunately the 3050ti model is no longer on sale, it's 999. That's why I said I had some FOMO about it. I should have just bought it and given it a shot.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this 3050 model ALSO has Thunderbolt. If it does then it fits my needs perfectly. Basically I wanted a relatively cheap laptop with a decent CPU and a reasonable GPU along with Thunderbolt. My thought is to spend another $300 and buy an eGPU dock for use when at home but the 3050 or 3050ti is more than sufficient for me when on the go.

I WAS considering the Dell G15 with the 3060 but it's a LITTLE higher than I want to spend.
