Office chair suggestion

1,191 1,050 November 19, 2021 at 06:37 AM
I would like to get my husband an office chair - he sits in one all day and I would lie, hi. To get a comfortable one. Any suggestions. Thanks.

I don't have any experience with expensive ergonomic chairs, but I bought a cheap high-back executive chair [amazon.com] in early 2018 that I've been pretty happy with. I sit in it all day, and it's holding up reasonably well. The headrest is tilted back more than I would like. The fabric is utilitarian. It squeaks, but that could maybe be fixed by oiling it. The fabric on the seat is wearing thin and developing a couple of small holes. It looks like this will be the first part to wear out and prompt me to replace it. But I expect to get 5+ years of virtually constant use out of the chair, and I like it enough that I will probably replace it with the same model. It sits higher than other chairs that I've owned, so it wouldn't be suitable for a very short person. I'm 5'8", and with rollerblade-style casters increasing the height a little, it actually sits a little too high for me on the lowest setting. If you want a high-back chair for under $300, I think this is a good choice. My personal criteria when buying was high back, no bonded leather, and not terribly expensive.
