Get the HD-58X instead. Much lower impedance and can be driven well by just about anything

Well worth it at $179. I paid $199 around 4 years and still using them with custom ear pads.

LOL, you keep arguing but you know deep inside your argument is flaw. Horror movies, Scifi, Family movies, disney movies, all movies regardless of genre all have extreme low freq. Why do you think sub woofers are so important in movie theaters and also for home theaters?

Stop arguing when you know you already lost. Accept defeat and move on with your life.
wow. i didn't know there was a battle of arguments over here. ALL HAIL JOHNDOE35. THE SUPREMEIST OF SLICKDEALS ARGUMENTS. DO NOT ARGUE WITH JOHNDOE35 BECAUSE YOU ARE WRONG AND HE WILL WIN THE ARGUMENT BY TELLING YOU THAT YOU ARE WRONG. GOD BLESS YOU, SIR.

i'd rather watch a movie with a center channel and without a front R/L or a subwoofer. the subwoofer is easily comes after the center channel and fronts, but maybe not after the rears.

Sennheiser sold off the consumer audio division 6 months ago to a company named Sonova.

I have a couple pairs from years past and am very happy with them. I enjoy the ability to replace any and every part.

FWIW, Sonova is a nearly 75-year old Swiss company specializing in hearing aids "with 24% of the global market" according to Wiki and all Sennheiser consumer employees worldwide were transferred to Sonova. All in all, looks like the HD-series' future won't be as bad as being sold off to private equity or some no-name Chinese brand.

their cables are trash, but Massdrop will replace the whole thing instead of just replacing the cable. I just received my 4th replacement.

Have been driving these using an asrock taichi motherboard. A bit overkill for pc gaming but I like them.

One thing to point out - if you have mid-long length hair and tend to take your phones off with one hand these will sometimes pinch off some hairs with them. I tried putting some electrical tape over the exposed phone cup-headband joints that cause this but it still happens on rare occasions.

I already had Sundara, do you think 6xx is still worth buying?
So... I'd say yes- especially at this price- they sound very different to me. HD6XX are great for vocals, and an intimate soundstage- those are (to me) the main differences between the two.

I like the HD6XX for: 1) a reference set of HP's- these are THE baseline headphones in reviews, etc. 2) Vocal-centric recordings like Adele, or singer-songwriter piano and acoustic guitar stuff, 3) HD6XX will bring out more in the high mids and treble for analytical listening. critical/analytical listening with a flat(ish) tuning.

Otherwise I go for the Sundaras- which are just darn great headphones.

these headphones were the start of my lifestyle creep. $200 for headphones???? had to get the $350 amp to go with it!!!

now that the 2nd set of foam pads has gotten used up they sit unused on the shelf until another $50 pad sacrifice.

the porta pros gladly fill in in the mean time.

are you saying that they'll give you another unboxed hd6xx instead of giving you another cable?

yes sir. The only downside is that you have to ship the unit first and pay for it. Once they get the tracking number, they will ship asap. I never understood why they do that.
