Sufficient for the most basic of functions. Thumbs up because it is only $160. Not everyone has $300 or needs something for more than checking their email or watching Netflix....though no doubt the screen will not be the best for watching Netflix based on the price point but not really a knock.

Important catch. The same problem happens in laptop listings with IPS displays. Just because the viewing angles are good, doesn't mean that the laptop is, for example, usable outside.

1080p does help make the laptop more generally functional. However, the cost-cutting required to get down to this price means that you shouldn't expect anything more than a laptop screen which operates indoors and when viewed straight-on. This isn't your mobile content consumption platform.

This post might be too abbreviated for me to completely grok the meaning. However I actually think the recommendation I've made is aligned with your ask(?). In the current market even crusty old laptops with 2nd generation (4-core) i-series cores regularly command $200-300 as refurbs (making the retail deals to which I linked all the more attractive). Much of this relates to their continued usefulness as productivity PCs.

By contrast, the bottom end for Atom laptops even new in retail hits $100-150 regularly and only the most fervent supporters would argue that these make great daily driver PCs without some qualifications. They run, but they're not something just anyone should be running toward.

Good catch. That definitely puts this laptop further into the interesting option for someone with $160 to burn on fun project camp, and a bit further out of the practical budget PC with long-term functionality camp. I've attached both user guide revisions here.

Interesting choice that the storage is upgradeable, but I've seen the same configuration in even $100 versions of this hardware. Perhaps if there's a real surprise here it's the presence of USB-C as well as the overall ASUS form factor (which is generally pretty nice considering the price).

Can anyone please help me figure out if this would be sufficient for my kid to play Roblox on? I have no clue what this game demands, seems to work well enough on iPad but they want laptops or chromebooks. I'd like to stay under $200 so I'm unsure if I should be looking at Chromebook or traditional laptops. i'm not looking for an investment... but I also don't want to deal with software and virus issues (I use a MacBook!!!)
