They check serial numbers at Walmart. I guess to make sure people don't return broken devices.
Time to exit the SD app!
This is older news, as in earlier this year they said they would limit personal upload without the subscription service to 20/month starting next year. People freaked and they did a 180 by March. Trying it again would tank the brand.
I see $279 at costco...

Is it going to be a hassle to get them to honor a price adjustment? It's still sitting in the opened manufacturer shipping carton....
Or is it just best to rebuy and send back the original? It looks like it's free return shipping if I drop off at UPS
Update: Amazon issued a "one-time courtesy credit on the original order". Looks like I won't be going through the hassle of returning/rebuying. This is a good price for this unit!
Wow you got lucky! I bought one 2 weeks ago also and debated all day if I wanted to return and get the Target deal with the $30 gift card. I knew they wouldn't price match Target.
When I got a notification of OP's post I immediately started a chat with Amazon figuring this should be easy. Nope wouldn't do it. Asked to talk to a supervisor and they said they couldn't do it either. Told them I would return the one I received and buy this deal. Still no go. So I ordered this deal and got the barcode to return the one I have. 🤷 ♂️
I see "wait for"…
I understand they backed off for now. But as their software is web based, there's nothing that stops from doing it again or placing other restrictions, and then you'd be up the creek without any recourse. There's a trend of going to the subscription based business model, so Cricut's failed attempt shows where this is heading longer term. That's why my wife is looking to buy a Cameo this Black Friday because their software is not web based and is more flexible.

I bought mine on the sixth and it's still sitting in the manufacturer's shipping carton (it's a gift for the girlfriend). Knowing Amazon's policy I was expecting to have to ship it back (I started the return process and it looked like it was going to be free shipping if I dropped it off at a UPS location) and reorder but I thought I'd check with customer support first.
I faced a little resistance but I was granted an "exception" and was told a $30 credit would be issued back to my payment source in 3-5 days. I don't know if that's technically an "adjustment" or just free money.
Regardless, I can't believe they haven't adjusted their policy after all these years. Obviously because they use algorithms to come up with their prices (and the sales they have are typically reactive "matching" of other retailers) and they are dynamic and change sometimes multiple times a day they don't want to have to a) issue adjustments and b) busy employees to do so, but it seems silly they'd rather have a customer ship back a heavy item (at amazon's expense) and buy another (shipped at amazon's expense) when they just just issue a price adjustment, even if they limited it to 14 or 30 day windows. I mean they could even cap it at a single adjustment per order (to limit the crazies that contact over customer service over things like a $.25 price change)
Pretty sure this comment pops up for every cricut deal now

Almost identical stories. I ordered mine on 11/5 for my wife for Christmas and it's still sitting in the unopened shipping box.
Sounds like you called customer service and I did it through chat. Oh well.

I'm not even a user. I'm just helping my wife hunt for a Cameo deal. But presumably this type of warning comes up repeatedly by multiple users because the risk is real one, and something to be considered. You might decide Cricut is better even with this risk, and that's totally for you to decide, but people should be aware before buying.
