I know there was a past Best Buy Labor Day student deal for this for $750, and I've personally been holding out for it, but $799 seems to be the next best price since then.

I used my Costco Visa card so the extra warranty period via Citibank (and quite a few other cards, Amex-Visa-MC do this as well) applies. It doesnt matter if it was purchased at Costco or not, the first year wd still default to the manufacturer, apple anyway.. Unless it's like a TV purchase where they specifically state an additional square trade/All State coverage period & terms that overlaps the manufacturers.
Even if i purchased this from Costco I'd still get the apple care + warranty because of my gf's use case with it and for peace of mind. Even w the deductible I find the apple care terms to be the most generous upon needing it for accidental damage.
Costco comes in clutch w this pricing ( too bad it's not 750 like this was over the summer for Best Buy "education" accounts ) but the real value imho is the heavily discounted apple care warranty you can apparently purchase at the same time as the hardware but not within 60 days or whatever like it is usually with other apple auth dealers and apple stores themselves.
Anyway, happy shopping. I'm not a apple fan by any means but this M1 chipset is a wonderful piece of kit for most normal use cases. And sure the ram seems lacking and so does SSD space but cloud storage and USB c thumb drives are cheap..the ram management is way ahead of windows for these amounts that would make some worry with 10 tabs of Chrome open and maybe one word doc. No sweat for the M1 Air 8gb along w light production work in Adobe CC or other suites. Crazy battery life with screen on time, and actual usage.
