There's comments like this in every MacBook Air M1 thread, but have no clue what they're talking about. Look into how this thing actually performs instead of thinking it's the same as the Intel chipsets with 8gb of ram.

Costco has two years warranty, so that's a plus

I was told in the store that that the two year warranty doesn't apply to Apple products. I would like to know if that's not the case.
It says in the item description on the Costco website "2nd year warranty"

I previously purchased this for 850 and haven't opened it. Still in the 90 day window. Do I need to return and rebuy to get a price adjustment or can I simply call them?
More than likely they make you return and rebuy. But you'd prob have better luck of an exclusion if you go in person to a store.

lol, 8gb ram, back to the past? Nowadays 16gb ram is pretty much the standard and soon 32gb will be the standard...
Maybe on windows. M1 users unfired memory which results in very little difference.

The only test there was a noticeable improvement was working 8K R3D Raw. Unless you regularly work with 8k video, 8gb is going to be plenty. Besides, I doubt people working with 8k are looking at ultraportable machines.

Still waiting for a 16gb ram deal
you will be waiting a LONGGGG time and even then you most likely wont find a deal

you could try going to the refurbished Apple site but they rarely have 16GB models without increased storage (512GB)

you could go to the Apple Education store - this same model with 16GB is $1079

the next best place to find deals is Apple Insider website which posts deals from stores like B&H - the previous poster gave a link to a 16GB Macbook Air for $1099 at B&H or $20 more than the education store

even waiting until the next refresh of the Air wont help as stores will be clearing out their stocks of the base units not upgraded units

Education store is your best bet with the discount on AppleCare+ you are looking at roughly $1260 before tax for a base M1 Macbook Air with 16GB of RAM.

I was a RAM snob like you, but for $750 at Best Buy I figured why not give it a shot. I was wrong. Some people need 16GB but most people don't… and those people are probably better off with a Pro anyway.

I have the Mac mini version. It outperforms the previous MacBook pros. Please don't comment on things you know nothing about.
