Good price. I'm really hoping for an S9+ sale on Black Friday but I grabbed one just in case.

I got this one a few weeks ago at Costco hoping for a price drop like this. I have to say though there are two things I am highly disappointed in 1) despite it mapping my house perfectly, it loves to drive full speed into my baseboards, to the point there is paint scrapes all over the roomba and dings all over the baseboards 2) the price of the bags. I picked up a shark ai too - gonna test them both an decide.

I have both a Roomba 960 and a Roborock S6. The Roborock is far more superior due to it's LIDAR navigation. I believe the Roomba does mapping by using your ceiling as the layout. So if you have a baseboard with a protruding top, the Roomba doesnt know the exact limit of it and will run into it. I have the same issue with my Roomba, although it got a little smarter after the first few runs for it to get a general map of the floorplan.

In general, I would only recommend a robovac with LIDAR navigation. Much smarter and more efficient cleaning routes.

Are vacuums included in the Costco typical return policy or more limited like the 90 day returns on TVs?

The typical return policy. I have a 960 that is on its last leg and was thinking costco would have in stock but it seems they only carry this dirt disposal model now.

Purchased from Costco a little over 6 months ago, this would be my second robot vacuum and I can say that I am extremely happy with its performance. I live in a mostly hard floor 800 square foot apartment. A few ridges between rooms and many rugs, alongside a 70lbs black lab who sheds two coats (fine and rough). I can say that the roomba has no issues vacuuming all the dog hair. You do need to be sure about cleaning the robot at least once or twice a month to ensure performance is at its peak. I also did have a the motor go out (gave a bunch of error codes on the app) but to iRobot credit they did troubleshoot it and sent me a new motor to replace it. I like that you can set the robot vacuum to clean on a schedule, automatically when you leave, or select rooms whenever you want and has options for deeper cleans (more overlapping passes). If iRobot wasn't able to handle my issue I'm sure Costco would have taken care of it. Overall a good buy, especially since it comes with the self cleaning base. I empty the bags and reuse them a few times before tossing them out.

The shark I got has laser navigation- not sure if it is lidar - doesn't have a problem with the baseboards like the roomba.

Why can't they fix the pic to make it look less like a toilet seat with a tank?

So torn between this and the Ecovacs T8+ for $499.99.

How much better is LIDAR than VSLAM?

The Ecovacs looks like a better product but Costco warranty is a plus.

I live in a 2000 sq 3 storey house which has a lot of stairs so I'm not sure if a robot vacuum would be of any help since I'm assuming it's not going to come up and down the stairs. Does anyone have experience using this in a similar setting?

This robot wont help with that. You have to do your own climbing stairs.

But I think there will be one soon: Amazon will combine Ring drone with robot vacuum cleaner laugh out loud

I bought the T8+ last year, and for my main floor that has hardwood, some tile, and an area rug, it is phenomenal. I haven't run it on carpet yet, but am very tempted to get another for our carpeted basement because the self empty base is a game changer.

I purchased a large pack of 3rd party replacement vacuum base bags from eBay and only have to replace it once every 2-3 months. Vacuum runs every night and our floor is clean the next morning. Have not used the mopping feature.

If I were you, I would review on vacuum wars YouTube channel, but the T8+ is a great robot vacuum.

The main difference is the i8 has a bigger battery and Costco's return policy
