I purchased mine new two years ago for 249 on sale. This thing is a beast mode blender. Basically works like a Vitamix knockoff. Also weighs a ton. I have black, but many colors to choose from on the Kitchenaid site. Amazon rating is 4.6 out of 5. Since it is a couple years old, you can get it when on sale, new for around $180 on Amazon. That said, $70 for this blender shipped IMO, is a slickdeal. The only thing I dislike about this blender is that it is loud AF. So know that before you buy it. It has muscle and will tear through anything and make a smoothy for the gods, but it will also wake up your neighbors.
For those who are looking for a nice blender, you may want to take a look.

Looks like White, Red, Silver, and Black are available for that price.
The blue is not.

No, it is not. Don't take my word for it though, RTINGS did a review. What they said was that it doesn't compare to the power of a Vitamix, which is to be expected if you look at the specs. This probably competes well against the ninja line of blenders, but the Vitamix is a tier or two above. That's not really an indictment of this blender though - Vitamix are [bar none] the top blenders on the market; they're used in commercial environments, and they even provide notably better results than blender that ARE in the same tier like the BlendTec blenders.

I copy and pasted this out of description. $40 bucks. Ouch. a little expensive when you are only paying 70 for blender.

Where'd you get 90%? The power difference between the two is much greater than 10%. You're talking about a top blade speed of 16,000 RPM with this KitchenAid vs 22,500 RPM if you compare to the Vitamix 5200, which is the most common Vitamix (newer models with the higher powered motors will be slightly more.) That difference isn't negligible, so I'm not sure why you'd expect the results to be - depending on what you're blending, there might be very noticeable differences.
Additionally, you're talking about the difference between a 5 to 10 year warranty from Vitamix vs a 1 year warranty from KitchenAid, and if I were a betting man, I'd wager that the failure rate of a mid-tier blender is going to be a decent amount higher, especially if you're trying to do more strenuous jobs with it.
I'm not telling you that this is a bad blender - in fact I'd guess it's probably a pretty good one, and will be good enough for a lot of people. If you need a Vitamix level machine though, this is going to disappoint, so trying to pass it off as "pretty close" is misleading.

Im not here to argue about best blender. We all know vitamix is king. I also said that NEW the Kitchenaid had a 5 year warranty. This is refurb so not the case. For most average consumers I think, the kitchenaid will be more than enough power. I myself had a vitamix before this blender that cost almost 600 and lasted 7 years. When I went blender shopping I purchased this one on sale at the time for 250. For me it wasn't a big enough difference in blending capabilities to pay the extreme vitamix price again, but for some it may be.
My in-laws have one that is 20+years old and still chugging along. Like everything, I dont think they are what they once were quality wise. But that is almost everything now-a-days
I mean, we're trying to discuss this particular deal right? I'm listing facts out so people can put things in perspective and make an informed decision.
We're talking about a refurb here in this deal, so it's the 1 year warranty. Refurb Vitamix units run as low as $250 sometimes, and come with either a 5 or a 7 year warranty depending on the model (there's one that comes with a 3 year, but that's a lower-tier unit from them and isn't really ever recommended.)
New Vitamix units ones get down into the $200s on occasion, but are readily available at $300 (literally a Costco deal right now for one with several other containers) so you got pretty unlucky if you bought at $600 brand new, it lasted the exact length of the warranty (if it was a 7 year model instead of the 10 year) and then died. Speaking of which, only the more premium blenders run that price - those really don't make sense for most home cooks, because most of the premium features are things like a tiny bit more power, a bit less noise, or pre-programmed blending cycles that most people tend not to use anyway. Regarding your unit lasting 7 years, that's also unfortunate, but there are a whole lot of reports of people using their Vitamix for the better part of 15 to 20 years without issue.
Again, I'll repeat that the blender in this deal is a good blender. It isn't a Vitamix though, and the relative value it offers is going to depend on the buyer's needs. If you're someone who makes smoothies daily, and wants to make sure your smoothies are as smooth as possible, then maybe a Vitamix would be better. If you make smoothies here and there, and won't get bent out of shape about some seeds and unpulverized stuff, then it's tough to pass up $70. If you want to be making completely smooth nut butters without risking hurting your blender, probably the Vitamix is the way to go. If not, then this KitchenAid may be a better choice.
