Why would they? Because you and the people you know weigh a good bit? The average American height is 5'9" why is this important? It is the main predictor for average weight range for a normal weight American. Even a slightly overweight American falls well underneath the 250lb weight limit.

Those averages for height and weight aren't anecdotal. So as a business why would you put more expense into a mass produced product for a small percentage of the possible target market when you can save a good amount of money and have a far larger target audience that it still remains usable for?

This is not shot at you or anyone's weight btw - I am merely addressing what in text looks like a flippant comment about people's weights and sizes that is not supported by fact but by anecdotal data.

They test it by dropping a 225 weight from 5 feet or thereabouts(duty rating). So, unless you have the worlds highest vertical leap, the impact force 225 lbs from 5 feet, is far greater than 250lbs at rest, or stepping onto it. or 270lbs.

A ladder isn't just going to collapse at 226lbs. you can probably safely get 275lbs on this, but i would not jump up and down, like some sort of clown

Good deal. I've owned one for several years now. I weigh 225. Whatever one (different brand) I had before this one broke after little use.

product overview
the gorilla ladders 3-step compact steel step stool is lightweight and folds up extremely thin for easy storage anywhere in your home, office, or garage. It features large, comfortable platform steps that automatically lock into place. The nonslip treads and oversized non-marring feet improve stability and the convenient handgrip makes it easy to climb and carry. This durable steel stool is great for various tasks around the home.

Well, It may be no problem for you, although in my book, if it says 225 limit...I'll err on the side of caution and go with that. Just saying.

They had it for this same price on November 14th. I ordered it on that day, but the status (even today) kept showing that it was on backorder. Now that it seems to be in stock, I cancelled the backordred one and re-ordered it again for arrival this Friday. Great price!

Lol I totally agree that weight capacity is for little kids and women. I have not weighed under 200lbs since freshman year of highschool. I workout 5-6 times a week and lift heavy weights. You figure they would at least average it up to 250lbs on the bare minimum.
Why would they? Because you and the people you know weigh a good bit? The average American height is 5'9" why is this important? It is the main predictor for average weight range for a normal weight American. Even a slightly overweight American falls well underneath the 250lb weight limit.
