How is this compare to Orbi RBK753s
Everything I read before I bought the xt8 said the Asus is faster with a longer reach. It also has content filtering and security controls without a subscription. I've been very happy with them

Already have pair of XT8. Highly recommended.

I'm thinking of adding nodes but not sure if there are more budget friendly options vs buying another pair…
There is a one pack available at amazon for $250

I would like to know as well.
I have picked RBK753 from Costco deal. They are pretty good. Only that they don't have some settings that I would like to have. Fox example, option to not broadcast SSID, option to make sure the Guest wifi does not connect to your internal network nodes etc.
Is that right? I thought the guest network for the RBK753 is walled off from the main network.

Note that the Promo Code in posting only works for the Black model (which is now on backorder). I tried to get the white ones (which are in stock) and it rejected the promo code, but within the cart itself, I was offered another promo code for $40 off any 2 items so I used that instead. Not sure if the code was account specific but it worked for me and thought I would share it here as well.

PROMO CODE: AUS88BFPR

Does anyone think about using a wired backhaul for this?

Highly recommend. I have two sets running for over a year. Besides the occasional firmware upgrades, never an issue. Great speed and coverage too.

Also recommend this over ORBI/Deco, the firmware has been amazing.

I have this set up via wired backhaul, the cool thing is, even though this is technically not supported, i was able to get the 2nd XT8, 2.5G port to use as LAN. It took some messing around with but it does work. I just don't think the through put is there since, im using wired-wired back haul over 1G lan ports, but cool it have your local PC showing a 2.5G connection.

Does the 2.4ghz have it's own SSID?

Had just recently tried both the XT8 and ET8 and had the RBK53. Not quite the same as the newer RBK753 but maybe my experiences will be useful.

TL;DR, only get the ET8 if you plan on doing wired backhaul and have some WIFI 6E devices. XT8 is much better than the original RBK53, not sure how it compares to the newer RBK753 and RBK853. The app for the ZenWifi is amazing while the Orbi is pretty junk. Free internet protection built into the ZenWifi while the Orbi is a subscription (I also had to disable the Orbi one when I had the free trial as it would mess with my conference calls).

ET8 has the fastest ping at 9 ms and seem great, except you will keep getting dropped packets randomly. The range is also shorter than the XT8 if you're using wireless backhaul. The ET8 could get full speed sometimes but other times would only get 1/3 of the speed compared to the XT8 placed in the same location.

Both the ET8 and XT8 seem to have longer range than the RBK53. I had to use an extender for some peripheral devices that were further away with the RBK53. The ZenWifi app is at least 50x better than the Orbi. Only thing I ever did on the Orbi app was to reboot. Everything else was done via the web browser. The app for ZenWifi allows you to do everything and it is very intuitive. I also turned on the free internet protection and didn't have any issues. Couldn't use the Orbi one that cost money on a subscription because it would mess with my conference calls. There have been a few other issues that I had with Netgear products and starting to shift away to other brands. Glad I gave the ZenWifi a try.

The setup process gave me the option to set 2.4 and 5.0 as same or separate SSID. I believe you can even separate out the two 5ghz (or the 6ghz for the ET8) to separate SSID.

I would also recommend downloading the firmware version 42095 from Asus website and putting that on the XT8. That seem to have fixed the random stutter/jitters I was having with the XT8.

Wired backhaul opens one the dedicated backhaul band for fronthaul. You also have option to use that band as both backhaul and fronthaul.

Why is no one stating the fact that the entire reason we are doing mesh is to do away with wires?

If I could've done wires, I would've done that from the get go and avoided all the mumbo jumbo mesh crap.

Ive used both. The orbi' RB753s require latest firmware updates, so if theres a bug in the current firmware your screwed. You can rollback but you have to use pihole to block the auto upgrade. Total pain in the ass. Asus xt8's dont auto update to newest firmware unless you set it that way in the settings. Xt8's also have way more settings for customizing your network. The xt8's also allow wireless backhaul which is super fast. I got better coverage with the orbi's but the xt8's do a amazing job with just 2. I ended up returning my RB753s, and thats mainly because of the problematic firmware, and xt8 is much faster.

Yes it does. You can separate them into three ssids. A 2.4, a 5.4, and a 5.4 backhaul
