What are you planning on doing with it? My boot drive (960 EVO NVME) has been powered on for 12775 hours. That is 532 full 24 hour days of power on time. So far it has 29.8TB written. At this rate, 600 tbw would be 29 years of 24/7 operation. (although this 960 EVO 1TB version is rated at 400 TBW)

Not the 980 Pro, so no DRAM. But still a good deal.

The 970 Evo Plus 2TB has been on sale at $229 for a while now ($100 off). AFAIK the 980 is not available in 2TB format, but the 970 Evo Plus is overall a better drive anyway with a proper cache and better controller (980 is considered a "budget" drive).

I saw a banner on the Amazon app that gives you 10% back instead of 5% on this item if you pay with an Amazon cc.

I just got the G15 5511 deal from yesterday and got this drive as a secondary drive. The WD black SN750 SE was also $99 on Amazon. Should I have gotten the WD Black instead? Any heat and power issues with the SE version?

I always associate Hynix with variable build quality. (for example, I would return a GPU with Hynix DRAM vs Samsung.) Nevertheless, that is mostly subjective, so here is a review that contains both (starting on page 2) and it might help one decide:

The SK Hynix P31 [amazon.com] is frequently on sale for just a little more than this and it's a much better drive which uses DRAM and is extremely power efficient (giving better battery life and putting out less heat).

It has the usual 15% off coupon right now actually. Bringing the price down to $110.
So sk hynix gold p31 is better for $10 more because it has dram and much better thermal performance and slightly lower performance in read/write compare with samsung 980?

Dell has this drive for $100 as well but you get better cash back through TCB, raku10 or Hawny. Paypay 5% as well if you have chase freedom card.
Hawny is giving $20 CB but I dont know how long it takes to receive it.

The Amazon title is SAMSUNG (MZ-V8V1T0B/AM) 980 SSD 1TB - M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology. I think the M.2 is more important than Internal. The title here does not say M.2. Sure, people that know that 980s are M.2 would know that this is M.2 but it would be nice to have M.2 in the title here. M.2 implies internal; a M.2 is seldom used externally.

For all worrying about DRAM and those who don't know what it is, I think this is a decent article that should address concerns https://www.windowscentral.com/sa...980-review
