Here's a public service announcement for parents who plan to buy this for the kids. If you put this on your wooden floor, make sure you do not move this kitchen by sliding it because the pegs on the bottom of the kitchen set will scratch it. Ask me how I know. The kitchen unit itself is probably approximately 30 to 40 lb. My kids were moving the kitchen one day and was pushing it from one side to the other and left a very deep gash on my kitchen wooden floor.
Edit: read through earlier comments and my warning was not the only one! Glad other people agree haha
This. I did a little bit of this over a few days. But still spent a chunk of my time Christmas Eve doing this.
I had a friend tell me it took them 2 hours to build, and I thought that was crazy, so I timed myself. I put it together in just over 1 hour. (My wife took my daughter to the mother-in-laws house for dinner so I could move quick and make noise all I wanted). I really won on both counts.
I even emailed kidkraft earlier this year asking about replacement doors and a sink for this model.. something was screwed up on the website and they wouldn't let me order anything.
Kidkraft sent me all new doors, hardware, etc… for free. Outstanding customer service.
As others have and will comment, these will take a while to put together. Was a solid 4 hours for me, and am pretty capable with these kinds of things.
It's also very high quality, so much kcer than the cheapo plastic ones. It's not a statement piece in the house, but it'll be up for a while and feel confident it'll last the long haul
So glad when I was a kid I was given interactive toys and puzzles, not useless kitchens like this, dorky GI Joe dolls, and spiderman beds, all which give kids a sense of accomplishment for not doing a thing.
