You guys all know that kaspersky is Russian owned and headquartered. Why would you install Putin spyware knowingly on your machines? Read the book sandworm. Wouldn't touch kaspersky with a 10 foot pole.

What is the difference between total security and internet security?

Go on the site to compare, but the extras aren't much if you don't need password management, kids control and encrypted file storage. I think both total and internet are the same price in this deal.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus is fairly limited, and only offers anti-malware and performance optimization features. Kaspersky Internet Security offers those features too, but adds a range of functionality on top. Such as a VPN, payment protection, ad blocking, anti-tracking, webcam protection, parental controls, and more.

You can compare them here to see which meets your needs

I just bought this to try. What I don't like about total internet security is that it install a root cert from Kaspersky— that will let them inspect all encrypted https traffic. I am not comfortable giving that level of access to them - all I need is a virus scanner for my HDD.

IIRC, you can disable VPN and any unneeded features to use just the AV function

Thanks a lot. My KTS was expiring today and since I missed the earlier deals was about to pay the additional price in kaspersky site. Was checking slickdeals once just before I hit place order there and was surprised to see this deal 10$ less than what I was about to pay. Thanks 😊

How good is Kaspersky and is it worth paying for a personal AV nowadays? I've been sticking to Windows Defender for a while
Stick to Windows defender. You don't need any other AV. Last time I used AV was 11 years back.

The US Gov requires all of their contractors to sign an agreement every year not to use Kaspersky. I think I'll stay away….

That's the worst advice I've seen in any single post on slickdeals. Defender and signature based AV's provide zero protection against ransomware. You need an EDR/XDR antivirus to detect the most important hacks these days.

Windows Defender *for Endpoint* is excellent, but the free Defender doesn't do much good for today's security threats.

Will either of these products clean up a laptop that already has issues? I've got a 4 year old Dell laptop that has ground to a haul over time, it has very few programs on it and only gets used an hour or two a week.
