If you have gmail and your account hasn't been inactive for 30 days, use the +1 trick. So if your account is [email protected], create a new Hulu account at [email protected]. It's the same account on your end but Hulu will see it as a different email address.
Good deal. Just want to take the time to say that the number of commercials that you have to sit through on their regularly priced ad supported plan os nuts. I could see 1 1:30 minute break during an episode, but there are like 4 during a 40 minute episode.
Just make another account with a different email. I go back and forth each year.

Thank you so much. My $1.99/mo ran out. I had signed up for $2.99/mo but was able to cancel and get the $0.99 per month. I did try the email plus 1 and that worked for me. Yes, alot of ads but this is a great backup for when my Recast fails to record....Big Sky won't record even though it states it will.

Note that it remembers your payment method. I have a current account that lapses in 3 days. Through the other account it kept kept telling me I'm not eligible when I chose payment method as Venmo or my Amex card (both payment options that I had used on my current account). Then I tried again and changed my payment method to a different credit card, and it finally went through.
Same here; Cancelled my previous sub ($1.99/month, but renewing in a few days @ $6.99) and went to sign up on a different account.. I saw the $0.99 until I put my CC in (same as the account I just cancelled) and it quickly jumped back up to $6.99

Using a different card fixed it though

Wow, are they extra wiggly about new customers. Used two emails I hadn't used with hulu in over a year, no go. Made a new email address. Didn't like that either.

Even with a virtual credit card.

I had to use paypal for the first time with hulu to make it work.

Good thing they had someone spend a lot of time on this and confused plenty of customers who hadn't used hulu in a while...

Good to see it back at 99c, which is all that it's worth given the number of commercials. After it going to 1.99 and some folks being offered 2.99 if they threatened to cancel, I expected 2.99.

Since the movies just have an ad at the start, I can put up with that. Not the 15 ads in the shows though. Peacock was bad like that at first, so damned many ads it was unusable. Not bad now, I think you get one up front, one nearer the end and one just before the final scene.

Because I'm not paying a monthly fee AND watching an ad when there are fully ad supported services doing very well.

Is this a commitment to pay for 12 months or just a monthly rate that expires after 12 months unless you cancel it and lose the rate?

And the circle of life continues. I don't even like Hulu but $12 per year is worth it for the occasional times I'm stuck somewhere but they have wifi.

I haven't tried it with hulu, but if you change the DNS server addresses in your router to the cloudflare one without ads/malware, it may skip the ads. It did for the Roku channel when I used that about a year ago. Just stopped for the commercial and .5 second later back to the show.

Paramount+ won't work with that. They show an ad in front of everything in the "no ads" package, usually for another one of their shows. And they didn't put an error out, so it just sits there on a swirling circle and never shows the movie/show.

In other news, I won't be renewing paramount+ for just that reason. I spent 3 days "troubleshooting" (this was of course a problem with my computer or network, which is why everything else worked fine!) before I put a network analyzer on and saw the request to the ad server getting no reply and it just sitting there.

Using the ad-free cloudflare DNS also saves me a lot of time and bandwidth since the ads aren't rejected by an ad blocker on your computer after they've arrived, they never get loaded in the first place. Also protects phones, tablets and other devices from ads and some malware.

It's 99 cents a month. The only commitment is 99 cents. If you don't like it you can cancel at any time and will not be charged the 99 cents the following months. You can even pause it and still get the 99 cents when you come back.

I'm confused, this offer is for new or returning subscribers, why did you need a new account?

Look at the thread. It says returning subscribers, but I tried it with a new virtual card and 2 emails I hadn't used with hulu in > 1 year, and it kept telling me that I didn't qualify for the promo and had to pay $7/mo. Nope. Took a brand new email and paypal as a payment method, since I hadn't used that before.

They must be checking the credit card billing address or something?

Anyhow, good thing they spent money "fixing" that, it just took me 3 minutes to get around it.

Surprised me that even the virtual card # was 'connected' back to me as a former subscriber. I DO have a hulu acct that just expired last week. Different email, credit card and it still knew who I was.

Could have been a cookie somewhere. I didn't get around to clearing the hulu ones?

I wonder how many subs hulu would have without these promo deals? I sure wouldn't pay more than a dollar or two to watch 6 minutes of ads on a 40 minute show.

I'd also bet that the # of peacock subs would drop to nearly zero if they took out the freebie deal for comcast and some wireless customers.

Are you an existing subscriber under a different email with the same payment method you were trying to use?

Because I had no problem resubscribing after having been an off/on subscriber for years with a single account and single payment method. However I did have the account in a canceled state since June of this year waiting for The Orville or The Hardy Boys to release a new season.
