Using a different card fixed it though
Even with a virtual credit card.
I had to use paypal for the first time with hulu to make it work.
Good thing they had someone spend a lot of time on this and confused plenty of customers who hadn't used hulu in a while...
Good to see it back at 99c, which is all that it's worth given the number of commercials. After it going to 1.99 and some folks being offered 2.99 if they threatened to cancel, I expected 2.99.
Since the movies just have an ad at the start, I can put up with that. Not the 15 ads in the shows though. Peacock was bad like that at first, so damned many ads it was unusable. Not bad now, I think you get one up front, one nearer the end and one just before the final scene.
Because I'm not paying a monthly fee AND watching an ad when there are fully ad supported services doing very well.

Paramount+ won't work with that. They show an ad in front of everything in the "no ads" package, usually for another one of their shows. And they didn't put an error out, so it just sits there on a swirling circle and never shows the movie/show.
In other news, I won't be renewing paramount+ for just that reason. I spent 3 days "troubleshooting" (this was of course a problem with my computer or network, which is why everything else worked fine!) before I put a network analyzer on and saw the request to the ad server getting no reply and it just sitting there.
Using the ad-free cloudflare DNS also saves me a lot of time and bandwidth since the ads aren't rejected by an ad blocker on your computer after they've arrived, they never get loaded in the first place. Also protects phones, tablets and other devices from ads and some malware.

They must be checking the credit card billing address or something?
Anyhow, good thing they spent money "fixing" that, it just took me 3 minutes to get around it.
Surprised me that even the virtual card # was 'connected' back to me as a former subscriber. I DO have a hulu acct that just expired last week. Different email, credit card and it still knew who I was.
Could have been a cookie somewhere. I didn't get around to clearing the hulu ones?
I'd also bet that the # of peacock subs would drop to nearly zero if they took out the freebie deal for comcast and some wireless customers.

Because I had no problem resubscribing after having been an off/on subscriber for years with a single account and single payment method. However I did have the account in a canceled state since June of this year waiting for The Orville or The Hardy Boys to release a new season.
