This is a great tool for anything in the engine bay. The #1 setting is similar to a quarter inch impact for finesse and the #3 will take car lugs off even with the small 2amp hour battery. My only complaint is it's tough getting a socket on and off, I leave a small extension on this tool to make things easier.

This is definitely my favorite tool second to their og nonfuel electric ratchet

I have this and actually currently using it at work, very good tool and very good price, if you buy this I highly recommend getting at least a 4.0 battery or bigger to get the full 250 ft lbs of torque

The reason why is because the 1/2" sockets will generally apply more torque with heavier 1/2" sockets. In addition, the 1/2" sockets go up in range higher than the 3/8". For example, most 3/8" impact socket sets go from 8mm to 19mm. Generally small fasteners don't need high torque to remove and I would be hesitant to use high torque on them anyways. The 1/2" socket sets give you more flexibility since covers a wider range of socket sizes going up in size... they even down to 8mm if you want.

I disagree. I have this one in 3/8 and a m18 mid torque in 1/2. Anything over 21mm is too much for the M12, and 3/8 has smaller sockets easier to handle in tight spaces.

With a 4.0 battery, it took 2-4 seconds to knock a lug loose off a sedan. would a 6.0 battery make much of a difference?

Great price. I have the 3/8 and run a 1/2 adapter if needed. I also have a 1/2 mid and high torque that can take care most of everything else. 3/8 deep impact sockets are perfect for suspension and engine work with this gun. Don't forget he m12 xc6.0 and you're set

I have this tool and the M181/2 mid-torque. I ended up needing both because the stubby would not break loose those tough lugs nuts. I still like the stubby for its size on most things I need it for in my driveway usage.

I saw someone comment on the 4.0 vs 6.0 battery. I read somewhere the 4.0 battery will give you slightly more torque or surge power than a 6.0 battery. It has something to do with the cells inside the pack. Note sure I have felt the difference with either battery. I think I saw a technical explanation on reddit. Obviously the info is only as good as what you can believe what is on the internet.

It really depends on the cells. Both will have 2x 3S cells in parallel.

Beyond that, though - do you have impact specific sockets AND aren't running adapters? I was very underwhelmed with this tool until I realized you lose a lot of torque when adding extensions/using the wrong sockets. I was having trouble with my MK7 golf when removing lugnuts (90 ft-lb torqued). Getting different impact sockets spun them off with ease.

To address some other questions in the thread - the theory on why the 1/2 is better is that there's more mass to the anvil even though the guts are the same. I've only used the 3/8, so I can't comment on whether or not that's true...

I fix all my three cars but I only work every now and then a couple of months. And if you need to use a larger battery for better torque than Ridgid is way better option. Its head is even smaller and has LST.
If you using 2 AH battery, then nothing can beat its compactness. I

Useful even if you already have the bigger 1/2" because it's compact and able to fit in parts of a car where the bigger ones can't go.
