I probably would go for the Pixel 5a at $399 over this. Yes. The 8T out-classes the 5a with it's flagship features, but the 5a's cameras and battery life are more superior.

I tried to get this at midnight. The checkout process was crappy. Sometimes it would not add the buds. Some other times it wouldn't allow me to apply my coupons. It was also not allowing me to change the protection plan. In short, you didn't miss anything. The site was bombarded /crappy.

I tried the coupon from the 8. It doesn't work on the 8T.

My gf has a 7T and I have a 7pro. The performance between the 8 isn't close enough to bite. But the 8t has a 120hz refresh rate. I would bite on that for $400 or less since my charging port is giving me problems with my 7 Pro.

4 ONEPLUS BACKUP EVERYTHING REGULARLY! It's very easy to go into recovery then change to Chinese and the power button activates enter key and zooms through the the menus for a full reset. Happened to me and thousands of others on forums I was checking. Disable advanced power button menu. For real it was crazy how it happened.

CALL RECORDING. You can enable native call recording easily with OnePlus 5-9 easily in 5min! That breasts the others who have region restrictions on it. sounds great using Bluetooth headphones!

I bought this last week during the one day flash sale. I was planning on trading in my 7t, but after using the 8t for a few days I am going to return it. The reason is due to the crippled charge rate when using all but the Warp Charge 65 and perhaps some 60W+ high power chargers. The 8t will charge at a literal snails pace on any "regular" 5V charger, and even on the Warp Charger 30t that comes with the 7t it will charge extremely slow. This is due to the dual battery design of the 8t, which is what allows the extra fast charge rates on compatible chargers, but most other chargers cannot provide enough voltage to provide more than a trickle charge.

Here's a post [reddit.com] I put in the Oneplus8t reddit that describes my observations and testing results. Here's one timed test:

Using a 5V/2.4A charger, after one hour the 8t went from 55-73%. Using the exact same charger and cable, my 7t went from 47-92% in the same amount of time. While I understand that the 8t battery is larger than the 7t (4500mAh vs 3800mAh) that does not come close to account for the significant charge rate discrepancy.
