Used an old link from a deal earlier in the year but applied black friday coupon code and it worked.

$219.70 + tax after code BFDEAL80

I'm in the same boat. Did not expect the Vertex to come anywhere near this price, but here we are. Here's what I've gathered about the differences from my research.

Vertex (newer model released about a year ago) pros over Apex:

Has slightly better suction, though the difference is minimal (don't know if it will be noticeable).
Has a slightly larger dustbin/canister.
The attachment hose is slightly more easily expandable (some people complained about how the Apex one is very stiff and won't expand easily).
A common problem for the Apex/Vertex is the little roller wheels on either side of the duo clean roller wearing out/breaking. Shark does not offer replacements for these. This is obviously anecdotal, but one of the reviews I found by someone who uses these vacuums for a cleaning business stated that the Vertex ones lasted noticeably longer, though it's still a weak point.

Vertex cons vs. Apex:

Personal preference, but I like the placement of the LED lights on the head of the Apex better.
The top cover on the head of the Apex is removable, making cleaning the rollers a bit easier. The Vertex top is NOT removable.
There is an LED light on the end of the attachment handle of the Apex giving you a bit more visibility when using attachments. This was again taken away on the Vertex.
The larger bin is nice, but it is clear throughout and will get ugly/cloudy looking very quickly once you start using the vacuum. The see through portion of the Apex canister is smoked so it's not as obvious when it gets cloudy/dirty.
A few of the reviewers remarked that the plastic on the Vertex feels slightly cheaper in quality, though this isn't a proven fact.
The color might be off-putting for some.

This is off the top of my head. I'll add more if I remember anything else. But as you can see, the differences are minimal and mostly come down to personal preference. I'd like to get the Vertex for the slightly better suction and more flexible hose, but I like the concept of the LED light on the handle and the removable cover on the head on the Apex. I also think returns through Kohl's would be a lot easier if I end up not liking it for some reason.

I kinda' wish they didn't mark the Vertex down this much. Would have made the decision simple given the price difference before this.

Nice deal...

If folks can use the Kohl's money, then the Apex deal might be the better option. But at least it's debatable with this price.

I think if buying direct you also get a VIP warranty (not entirely sure what the difference is).

It is $70 Kohl's cash if you consider the $10 from Kohl's reward too.

The Vertex at Kohls is $429.99 + $105 Kohls Cash

From my research, the Vertex is a little lighter and has a bigger dirt bin.

I love this vac. It's the only one I have that doesn't send cat litter flying everywhere.

Good deal. Note this does not include some attachments that other sellers normally include (like Amazon) such as the power brush. Shark's "TruePet" bundle does include such attachments but I couldn't get any codes to work for it ($420). Also note the TruePet bundle comes with some additional attachments that other sellers don't appear to offer. Here is the full list:
- Self-Cleaning Pet Power Brush (I like these for carpeted stairs)
- Multi-Angle Dusting Brush (not sure how much better this is vs the normally-included dusting brush)
- Anti-Allergen Dust Brush
- Accessory Bag
- Duster Crevice Tool (looks like the same thing as the normally-included crevice tool + retractable bristles)
- Flexi Crevice Tool (can't tell what this is or if it's really value add over the normal crevice tool)
- Bonus: Under-Appliance Wand (also included in OP's deal)
- Bonus: Shark® Steam Mop

Can anyone compare to the Shark APEX DuoClean with Zero-M listed here: https://slickdeals.net/f/15427996-shark-apex-zero-m-normally-380-208-24?src=SiteSearch

Wondering if which is better...

That comment is referring to the Apex at Kohl's.
