When is a thread too old to reply?

I noticed that this fourm is very active and that the threads get buried very quickly.
I was wondering how old the last post of a thread needs to be before you would
not consider replying to it?
Also wondering about the other fourms on SD like hot deals.
When is the latest time from the last post in a thread would you consider replying to?
Be advised that this is a public poll: other users can see the choice(s) you selected.

A thread is too old to reply to when the SD High Council has their monthly meeting and votes "yay" or "nay" on said thread.

When they reach the age of 15 years old. The age was set as it was deemed a typical American student would be out of Middle School by then.
