If you like sci-fi and fantasy you're in luck! Robin Hobb's The Farseer: Assassin's Apprentice is the first book in one of the best series of the genre. Monster Hunter International is a very fun series about modern day monster hunters, though a little too "gun porn" for some people. City of Golden Shadow is the first book in Chad Williams' great Otherland series. The Last Wish is the first book (series of short stories really) of The Witcher series, and outstandingly written and read and the second book is also a part of the sale. I haven't read/listened to Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of Time yet, but it's supposedly a masterwork of modern hard sci-fi. His Shards of Earth is also on the sale and I haven't even heard of it, but will be considering it I also haven't gotten to Lovecraft Country yet, but it spawned the recent TV show and has rave reviews.
I will likely be getting the history: Bolivar and will be checking out some of The Great Courses (12 pages at the max 50 books per page!) offered as well.

Hard to make blind recommendations without any idea of your interests. I almost exclusively buy non-fiction titles from Audible. The 3 I bought in the sale are: 1) The Human Swarm: How Our Societies Arise, Thrive, and Fall 2)Black Edge
Inside Information, Dirty Money, and the Quest to Bring Down the Most Wanted Man on Wall Street and 3) The Violinist's Thumb And Other Lost Tales of Love, War, and Genius, as Written by Our Genetic Code. There are also 3 I previously bought: 1) Humankind A Hopeful History (not yet listened to 2) Billion Dollar Whale (" "an epic tale of white-collar crime on a global scale" (Publishers Weekly), revealing how a young social climber from Malaysia pulled off one of the biggest heists in history."} also not yet listened to, and 3) The Sleepwalkers How Europe Went to War in 1914 (excellent and a hefty 24 hrs.).
Can someone explain to be how Audible works? I was going to buy my best friend a one year membership for $150. But she will still have to purchase the books? I'm not sure I understand. Thanks!

They give you one book a month with that price. You pick the book. If you need any more you pay whatever the book costs.

Anything from The Great Courses, especially from Robert Greenberg.
