Just got an email from Microsoft inviting me to buy the XBox X available in limited quantities on Microsoft Online Store.

You have to bundle a game and a controller and it all came out to $720.
I was able to buy one for the delivery date of 12/22

All good. I submitted a refund request for the differences on sale items, and that should even it out. I needed another controller for my daughter (she wants her own for xmas) anyways, and I was going to play FC6 anyhow so it worked out.

I was finally able to checkout on Friday. As others mention. Call Support and ask them to clear your cart or ask them to place the order for you. I spent an hour with support and they finally cleared the cart and I was able to add the bundle and purchase using the link.

I tried going for 2nd one but couldn't checkout. Prob will try again this week,

Go cry a river. You are worried about rockstar getting $30 for a crap game I already own twice? Get a life. Also Microsoft emailed me said I was a loyal customer. They gave me the opportunity to buy 2 series x so I did. Sucks to suck grow up. Got all my games refunded. Now I just need to get my controllers refunded. Otherwise I'll go get two target gift cards for no receipt returns.

Going to wait until the console is shipped before requesting a refund on the game I picked, GTA IV. Not going to mess with the order until I get the console. Amazon cancelled a PS5 order when I asked them to remove a controller from the order and that almost was a disaster. Luckily I was able to get a preorder at another retailer.

I took my chances (maybe not a good idea) and got the game refunded on both my orders through the automated means. Already got the credits and the orders are intact. I also got them to issue the refund on the controller on one order (second order did not have the controller).

Don't do the chat. There is a post in this thread where someone details an automated means of doing it using the digital assistant. I've done it twice and it has worked without any issues.

I was merely pointing to the apparent technical glitches for some people despite receiving emails to purchase. I am happy that you got the consoles and are able to get refunds for game as well. Enjoy the consoles and bask in the glory of your victory!

If anyone is still looking on how to enable the Marketing email -
Not sure if doing this now will cause an email to buy but worth a try...

To adjust this, go to Contact Preferences on your Xbox account.

On PC and mobile browsers, you can follow these steps:

Got to Xbox.com
Click on "Sign In" in the upper right corner and log into your account
Once logged in, click on your account name on the upper right corner
Click on the three dots (…) for "More Options"
Click on "Xbox Settings"
Mobile exclusive step: Once the Xbox Settings page loads, you will see a small text link that says "Xbox settings" on the upper left corner. Tap this link and continue with the next steps.
Click on "Contact Preferences"
Make sure both Xbox Newsletter / Marketing and Partner Marketing are selected
Click "Save"

Message Microsoft on Microsoft dot com. Look for the icon on the bottom right when you are on your laptop. Get them to help you. They are pretty helpful. If you got the email you should qualify to get at least one. Maybe 2. I had to use a separate credit card for the second.

Just keeping this thread alive, I just used one of those old email links the original poster suggested and while the past few days it wasn't working and i thought they sold out, they apparently got more in stock and then the link worked.

So keep trying it takes a while but it ships directly from Microsoft so you know you are getting quality item. Proof: https://imgur.com/LA8qntt

Take note est delivery date is out a month, mine says Jan 4, 2022 for the console.
