Btw, I saw 4TB ones for 68.99 in B&H and thought maybe I over paid for these in Newegg. I compared the two and turns out model are different. B&H one is WD40EFRX with 64MB Cache and Newegg one is WD40EFZX with 128MB Cache. I paid $76.99 with $8 coupon. Don't know about you, but $8 more for 64MB more cache sounds not so bad at all.

6tb and 8tb drive not available on either website and doesn't look like there's an option to checkout even on backorder.

I really like my Red Pros, hoping for that deal. I feel the 5yr and 7200 is far more useful for me.

I would say 4TB is the max I'm comfy with using as drives for any level of Raid 6. For me I've been using 10 with a 10 synchronized backup on a separate UPS that gets turned off once the sync is done. I then also keep an off-site archive. It doesn't help you if a robber just picks up both your hard drive units.

For any storage needs you have, you really need triple the storage. So 8TB=24TB.

I'm looking for Pro too. WD's site has them cheaper than Amazon, at least for the 6TB. ($195 VS. $235)

I am just getting ready to start getting into NAS. Looking at DS220+ and 1 drive 8TB. Is it possible to add a second drive later as a RAID1 configuration?

But software raid doesn't care if the drives are different unlike the old hardware raid cards.
