Extra green cutting mats, extra fine point blade, maybe the scoring pen. All the other accessories don't need to be cricut. You can get generic metal picks at harbor freight cheaper. If this is someone's first cricut then a few rolls of vinyl, iron on and pack of cardstock.

Buy your stuff from Amazon and your mats will be $2-3 each instead of $16 each and the ones i got unbranded were higher quality than cricut but identical. Same with vinyl, weeding tools etc.

I both hate and love you Slickdeals. Thanks for the deal. My wife will be happy!

For those that are new to email sign up…$10 off $50 works also for the promo code you get when you sign up for the emails.

Get the weeder toolkit. It should have everything she needs to get started. A paper trimmer/cutter would also be good. Some vinyl too. Not sure if she will be needing iron-on or the removable vinyl, but something to practice small cutting projects would be good.

So I just got a Cricut Maker and was wondering if I needed to buy "Cricut" branded materials or does any vinyl work?

Most people seem to prefer Oracal vinyl.

Edit: From various Facebook groups I've heard stay away from Dollar Tree vinyl. I bought a Maker for my wife for Christmas and ordered Htvront brand from Amazon. They get pretty good reviews too.

Can you tell me what removable vinyl is used for? I assumed it was for window cling type projects but then I saw they sell window cling material.

I use it for different stenciling projects and yes things I would like to remove later. They do have vinyl for stenciling and windows. Removable seems to be an all purpose product, instead of the permanent.

I picked up some stencil material for my wife. Guess I'll get some removable and see which she prefers.

Would you say the "bundles" are not worth it? They are trying to say you are getting $270 of extras for $80. Just not sure my wife would use all the "extras."
