Gen 2 is much better than Gen 1 due to how quickly they connect to your paired device, very quick within the Apple ecosystem (iPhone and iPads etc.). Battery life is better too, as well as new charging wireless case option if that's important to you.
Pros are much better than Gen 2 based on overall sound, battery, and active noise canceling (ACN)/ spatial features; however, the dealbreaker for some will be the fitment in your ear. The design has the silicone tips (3 size options included) and is just bigger/bulbous. They hurt my ear after less than 30 minutes wearing them, as well as my wife, and sadly had to give them to family member.
Gen 3 is better than Gen 2, and very similar to the pros in design, minus the silicone tips, and no active noise canceling feature. These are good alternatives to the pros if you don't like the silicone tips in your ear that create a seal-like effect in your ears. However, the bulbous design is larger than the Gen 1 and 2 and can hurt some ears still. These also did not fit my ears like the pros and were the deal breaker for my ears. I really wanted this to be the compromise for not being able to wear the pros (I think that was Apple's intent/goal, or they wanted a cheaper version of the pros as an alternative at the retail price point).
Overall: If they fit your ears, and you can afford to spend a little more ($160+ on sale), the pros are clearly the winner between all models for what you get and value right now, especially when comparing to the latest Gen 3 at a very similar price point today. That said, I still like the Gen 2 for fitment and wear them daily comfortably for hours. At $89+ when on sale they are still great buys and it just comes down to ear fitment and how much you want to spend/how important the new features are to you as it's almost 1/2 the price.

There is only one "PRO" model ever released.

The original model first (MWP22AM)…. And the 'new' ones this year. (MLWK3AM)
The ONLY supposed difference in the two is the newer (MLWK3AM) includes a MagSafe compatible case, but with no changes at all to the build and performance of the earbuds themselves. (They're also made in Vietnam too, rather than China)

I loved the sound, the fit was just not great no matter what I did. So I returned them in favor of the AirPod gen2. This year, at 170ish it thought I'd try the pros again and just use them for home theater use with my appletv. Nope. Just can't do it. So I've got the gen 3 AirPods ordered. Hoping they fit.
