Depends on your needs. It can cover about 90+% of what you use a laptop for. You sacrifice some functionality for convenience, accessible, and different apps. I got one last year and now barely use my laptop.

You definitely don't need Apple's magic keyboard. Logitech makes one that is $150 and it's much better in my opinion as it protects the whole iPad and has a row of function keys.

Thinking of buying an iPad Pro for work. I work in construction and thought it would be helpful on site. Thought was using it for taking notes on jobs and keeping up with multiple projects. Plus using as a computer at the house for printing statements and such. Would it be good for this. Don't know anyone using one for the same purpose

I have both and they serve very different purposes. The iPad is great for watching video, reading books and taking digital notes (with apple pencil). But it is in no way a laptop replacement. For any serious workflow that involves file management or window management, you will be much more effective using a macbook.

Answered your own question. If you're looking for a MacBook Air, get a MacBook Air. You are trading macOS and a bigger battery for better portability, better cameras+LIDAR scanner, and a slightly better screen. The price point is very similar if you're looking at the 2020 MacBook Air, around $800.


You can of course buy a bluetooth keyboard or Magic Keyboard, but these devices are tablets, not laptops.

This is the same price it was in October, not as great as I was expecting for Black Friday TBH (was hoping for at least $100 off).... if I can afford to wait a few months, think it will drop more at some point?
