When you purchase, you get a key to redeem on your microsoft account. So when you get a new pc, you need to sign out of your microsoft account on your old device and sign in on the new device.

If you havent signed out on the old computer, you go to the account settings of the microsoft account and remove the old device from the list of logged in devices.

It makes me so mad that Microsoft has moved to this stupid model. Used to be that you can get Office Home for like $15. For personal use, I've completely moved to Google Docs. The only thing that I miss is Office for my resume. I'll probably go to the library to update it if I have to.

and I love all things Microsoft, but this is a stupid stupid move

Its a nice deal but too bad its got to be a deal. I've used OfficeLibre and now Im already used to it. They should have offered this as a standard price like a year ago. Office lost me forever. I know this dont mean shit to Microsoft but just saying.

The change in a word doc file from .DOC to the 2016 and later .DOCX is the big deal. Same with .XLS to .XLSX and etc etc.

DOCX will allow files to be edited simultaneously by multiple people.

If you don't do those kinds of things, not much else new here. And I prefer office 2010 aesthetics over any of the newer versions.

I've been using Thunderbird for some time and I really like it. However, I've had to tweak it a bit to get it to work as I want. The main thing was to make sure my sent emails were in HTML format.

Also, Google docs should be sufficiently powerful for a resume.

Still, I use Excel and Word for some cases in my business which requires using a preformatted Word document that doesn't convert to Google Docs well.

I'm not the user you were replying to but if you run some types of complex calculations or volatile formulas on your spreadsheets, Google Sheets has a tendency to slow to a crawl in the situations I've encountered.
