When you purchase, you get a key to redeem on your microsoft account. So when you get a new pc, you need to sign out of your microsoft account on your old device and sign in on the new device.

If you havent signed out on the old computer, you go to the account settings of the microsoft account and remove the old device from the list of logged in devices.

It makes me so mad that Microsoft has moved to this stupid model. Used to be that you can get Office Home for like $15. For personal use, I've completely moved to Google Docs. The only thing that I miss is Office for my resume. I'll probably go to the library to update it if I have to.

and I love all things Microsoft, but this is a stupid stupid move

The user interface from 2013 isn't too dissimilar to the newer versions but I've noticed that the newer versions of Excel (2019 onward) include some newer exclusive formulas like XLOOKUP and MIN/MAXIFS that could make your life easier depending on your use case.

If one is a power user of Excel, there is nothing comparable form other companies. The Excel Visual basic programming to add Macros and custom functions is indispensable for me.

So.... is this to get the software to keep? Meaning I can use it forever? Or is it like a one year sub that will expire?

I am using Home Use version that I got from work. However... I want to switch PCs and I don't have the code! They will send the code to the original work email... but I don't work there anymore! Arrrgh.

That's great that you can copy and paste, but can you apply logic? You are protected by your credit card payment and you are protected by purchase protection of each respective site. So why do I need to "exert caution" when I'm buying something for $10 and am protected by multiple layers of customer protection?
