I want to go with a Vitamix but hard to decide on which one.

Here's an excerpt from one of the reviews that indicates the price might have been even lower at one point a couple years ago:

"The Vitamix V1200 reconditioned is my first high speed blender, and it does not disappoint! I bought it during the anniversary sale for $260, which included the 64oz low-profile container as well as the 20oz cup with base. Everything looks and operates as new, and I am extremely pleased after about a week of daily use"
Look at Costco they have this one brand new. Also the v1200 if you don't mind using the phone with it you can have a top of preset options and the performance should be similar to the 3500 that is fancier looking

I decided to pick one up. Most of the time I make something its just for me so a 48 oz narrower container would have been ideal. But that's only offered with the e310. I figure the 64 oz container and the personal to go container would be a decent combo. The e310 new was more than this and they don't seems to sell the e310 refurbished. Might not be the best deal but still think its a good deal.
Check the tiny containers it is really handy to make fresh pesto or grind spicies

The machine does not turn on without having the container. You can also use the app and select what you are making and the blender takes care of the rest. It is specially good with smoothies. It starts slow to break things a bit then ramps up speed and done you have amazing smoothie
On that topic watch out for the nearly invisible arrows the base for the personal cup otherwise it won't turn on. And put it on the top section of the dishwasher only for the personal cup or it can bent due to the self detect magnets inside of it if you put it facing down on the bottom part

Bought the 2 pack of 8oz blending bowls when I placed the order. Figured one for dry ingredients one for wet. I eat a decent amount of salads and want to start making some olive oil and avocado oil based dressings.

What is the advantage of the self detect containers? Or is it just to ensure that you are using their containers exclusively?
I have never heard of a third party vitamix container, i guess its possible, but thats not why they have the self detect.

The self detect feature lets the motor know what container is being used and automatically adjusts the blender settings. It knows when you are using the cups, 48 oz, 64 oz, food processor, etc. I am assuming it uses far less power when it detects the cups or the food processor.

It is also uses the self detect feature to communicate with the App via Bluetooth so that it can perform the blend function based on the instruction from the App.

I was debating on getting a good blender this time. I have had blenders from just bare $30 to $150 that were hamilton beach, Nutri bullet, Ninja, Ninja professional series with upto 1100 W. All used and lasted within the last 6 years time period. I was this time ready to shell upto $600 for a solid and powerful blender. I primarily use it for making smoothies, daily. I settled down buying the E320 at Costco which comes with additional bonus of PCA and Two 20 Oz personal cups. The Vitamix box says 7 year warranty and I think since I purchased this with my costco visa card that should add more 2 years and 1 more year with executive membership. I have also registered this product at Vitamix site that also awarded me with some points for rewards. Not to forget if you have exec membership + costco card you nearly get 4% CB. After using this for nearly 7 days daily, smoothies have been absolutely fantastic. I add lots of different ingredients daily, just to give an idea, I dont get half churned blackberry seeds, pomegrenate seeds and chia seeds. All the seeds are very well churned and blended. Super smooth texture and nothing to chew in mouth after the sip. Completely satisfied my needs. I would be happy if it just lasted me like this for 4 to 5 years, I would be happy to buy the same model again.

Well, if you really want one you're going to have to pull the trigger eventually.

The food processor attachment for the Vitamix is on sale in Best Buy for $159.95, a $40 saving for BF.

Vitamix - 12-cup Food Processing Attachment - Black
Model:67591
SKU:6425622
It goes for this price every couple of months if you have a costco near you and then you have the pretty much lifetime warranty though them. Same with these blenders, it's how they get all these units to recondition.

Costco have this (V1200) for 400 and e320 for 300.
In Costco package you get that scrapper and extra small container but also 5 years extra for additional 120 bucks. Not sure I am willing to give 120 extra for that
