Wow, what a deal!

I've been hemming and hawing whether to get the Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus, the Lenovo 10e or the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite 4gb version.

The only thing that originally stopped me with the Lenovo 10e was the terribly bad speakers. But at this price point, I'll deal with it. I have plenty of other devices around the house (including other PCs, tablets, phones and bluetooth speakers) if I wish to play something at a loud volume.

Here is my brief analysis should this help anyone in the same boat.

* The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is 8.4" and arguably is easier to handle than the 10" Fire HD 10 and Lenovo 10e. But the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite uses a crappy 1340x800 resolution with poor viewing angles. Buyer beware that the A7 Lite does have a 3GB RAM variant as well.

* Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus (the 4GB RAM variant) was really, really tempting especially considering one can use Fire Toolbox to remove the ads & bloatware, sideload Google Play Store, and sideload a custom launcher.

* BUT Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus uses Android 9 as the underlying OS (already out of date considering Android 12 just came out). Not to mention Amazon is releasing a new (currently optional) OS update to version 7.3.3.2 that prevents Fire Toolbox from being able to do its thing. Not sure how I feel about being forever stuck on a previous version of an already outdated OS.

* I've read that the Lenovo 10e's ChromeOS is a bit hit-or-miss compared to Android (especially with app compatibility) but we shall see. I don't really do much on my current tablets besides catching up on news, perusing Reddit & Slickdeals and occasionally watching a show or TV on it.

As much as a good deal it is, id rather go with the Amazon Fire HD Plus, just based on the added storage option, especially with the firebox tool to 'unlock' it.

Looking at the ebay listing I see -- wonder how many of these units they actually have.:
Limited quantity available
3,676 sold in 24 hour
--
Not trusting chat to actually be able to process the PM. They just sent me instructions on how to submit the PM and it's pretty specific to the lenovo site. I think they'll say anything to close the chat,

does anyone know if you can connect this to a projector?
Yes, any USB-C to HDMI should work that is Chromebook compatible. Already tested with my USB-C Doc and a TV.

There are instructions? I just chatted with a Lenovo representative on the online chat, and they will submit the PM. They did this before on a ThinkBook I had bought, and they credited me the difference when it shipped. I also saved the Chat Transcript for later verification purposes.

I've grown so much over the years... Old SD me would have bought this for no reason other than it being $79 despite having 5 other SD bought tablets at the house. New me will pass.

Will this work in india? Is this useful for my non tech savvy dad who will use it for browsing, youtube mainly ?
My mom likes the simplicity of chromeOS but I would recommend a bigger screen and faster processor chromebook. Lenovo P11 plus may be better if mobility is needed or full blown 15" chromebook (older folks would appreciate bigger screen real estate). I assume chromeOS should work in India as long as he has internet (wifi). Also he would need to have a gmail account, which is basically the log in equivalent to windows user log in.

Both, but its 1200x1920 so there may be over scan issues with cloning.

The eBay app says they have 2 left all day. Either their overselling their inventory or shifting inventory from their website.

I pushed them on whether the PM was confirmed or that the submission for the PM was confirmed and they kept saying "not to worry about it" but from the sound of things he just confirmed that the submission was made.

People wants updates till 2028 but no one considering slow processor here. With latest technology and future chrome os updates this ll going to get slower and slower. Pass for me
Processor speed is more than adequate and of course nobody is going to use a 2021 device in 2028. What a strawman.

The Helio p60 in this is an excellent performer and with 4GB ram it'll stay relevant and updated for as long as most folks would want to use it. The battery will probably crap out after 2-3 years.

And I used an amazon HDX tablet until this past year, circa 2015, and I have a couple of i5 chromeboxes that stopped getting updates years before they were no longer relevant.

So while I didn't buy this FOR updates til 2028, I bought it INSTEAD of a Samsun tablet that was only going to get updates for a year and a half. I'm done with "Well, we made this and sold a bunch...y'all are on your own now".

Its not on Helio but MediaTek® MT8183 Processor (2.00 GHz, 4 Cores, 1 MB Cache) - thats where my concern is but good luck !
