So a phone can work on Verizon, but not on Verizon's MVNOs? Explain please.
I never said it wouldn't. The quote I posted was from the source and does not say that.

Those that said it which I found in the reviews by searching the term MVNO (which may be where you got that) are from over a year ago. It either wouldn't at that point because it may have been more recently made doable, OR the complainers did not know how to deal with Verizon to get their account/phone provisioned for GSM use as that is needed to achieve it.

At some point in the recent past, Verizon wasn't compatible with GSM phones at all. Even afterward, many did not try to work it out with VZW properly. Today it's a brand new world for VZW and GSM phones.

My advice is to try it, then put up a current review either way. if Verizon cannot get you sorted with it after contacting them and trying, return it.

How does this compare to the samsung s9 or google pixel 3a? I was looking at getting one of those on ebay used, but this looks tempting.
I have a iPhone 6s from work, it is still getting updates. Whereas, my personal Pixel 3a will stop update in about 6 months. For used phones, I would consider iOS for the ongoing support.

6 GB Ram I'd think that's a pretty good budget phone. I personally love Motorola and am upgrading to the Motorola One 5G Ace for the additional storage space and love Moto Gestures. I feel like this phone could be a good 2 year budget phone.

This won't work in Verizon. Just an FYI.
False information.
It does work with Verizon network, I put visible SIM , it works well.
If you are Verizon postpaid, you need to call to let your plan in LTE only, so you won't depend on the dying CDMA network

The 3a does not come with unlimited photo storage, although I still agree that it is the better purchase.
Do not get Pixel 3A. Had one in a case, accidentally dropped less than 2ft and front glass cracked. Unlike other Pixel phone, front glass is not Gorilla glass 3, but to save cost is uses Asahi Dragon tail glass, which is weaker on drop. Also had Pixel OG, Pixel2XL, Pixel 3 and none of them have cracked on single drop.

To those with questions: Don't get your tech info from Slickdeals. Seeing way too much bad or half-right piecemeal info that'll just confuse you, especially regarding Android. Google your questions if you have any and go from there. Top results from Reddit are usually the most straightforward and helpful.

Imho, better to get an older flagship than a budget phone that won't receive software updates.
Meh. Every version of Android keeps getting worse and worse, it's almost no different now to how locked down an iPhone is.
My number one critetia for a phone purchase: unlockable bootloader. If that can't be done, I'm not buying.

An older flagship is the exact wrong thing to purchase. The batteries in them are all older now and will not last that long, and updates DO NOT MATTER. They have mattered ONE TIME in the entire history of android. Please stop if I see another post about update concern I'm going to lose my shiz.
Lmao This. A phone doesn't suddenly become DOA if it doesn't get updates. I still have devices from 10 years ago that still work. Something on Android 9 or above is gonna do fine for awhile yet.

Although I'll also argue that battery degradation on a phone that's been turned off for the last 2-3 years is gonna be minimal.

"Planned upgrade to Android 11"

Just like the ZTE phone I bought a little over a year ago and just replaced with a pixel 6 because it never got the "planned upgrade". Or any updates at all.

It says this model does not, but if I connect it to charger with battery less than %50 it switches to Fast Charge (says on the screen) and the phone charges quickly. Seems to be an undocumented feature!
