I bought this instead of the 16" MacBook Pro I was looking at because it literally was $1,000 less and it plays games. Sorry Apple, you really need to work with MS to get Windows 11 for ARM on the M1 Macs with Bootcamp, not being able to switch over to Windows to play games is seriously painful when you're going to blow $2,400+ on a laptop.

If any of your scientific apps use AVX-512 which is only avail on intel for now, it would basically run almost a circle around the 5800H

One app i use to test my pc is y-cruncher to calculate pi to billions of digits. This app uses AVX-512 which boosts the calculation speed into the range what used to only be attainable with server cpus.

I tried out a MacBook Pro 16" with the M1-Max and took a quick dislike to MacOS. It's like a gimped Unix machine that occasionally runs out of application memory and is ridiculously locked down. It's aggressively antagonist to open source software and assumes its users are incompetent.

Weird in your previous comment you said it takes forever to show up. Now it only shows up when u try a different unit. Seems like your just providing misinformation

What does that even mean? Your 2 comments completely contradict eachother. Your first comment says the coupon worked, your next comment says it only worked when u switched to a different unit. Thats misinformation, period.

How did you get it down to $1567.47 before tax? I could only get it down to $1696.31 after HOLIDAYSUPRISE and ID.me discount.

Is the 11/11 deal on the Legion 5 pro the best deal so far in terms of bang for your buck of a powerful gaming laptop around $1600 and under?

oops originally replied to wrong comment.

the 11/11 deal had a 1920x1080 display. this one has all that that one had, but has a WQXGA 2560x1600 165Hz IPS HDR 400 500-nit display instead. also, this one has a 1tb ssd vs 512 ssd.

It's slightly customizable. There's also an Intel i9 version if you prefer, but I went with AMD for better battery life and slightly less performance to Intel.
Thanks Smilie

ID.me also doesn't show up when I put the Legion 5i Pro in my cart, but shows up with the $19xx Legion 7i 16" 3070 in the cart. HOLIDAYSURPRISE also gave an error about compatibility.
What was the breakdown? Did you buy the 82K6005LUS (11800h, 3070, 16gb ram, 16" wqxga) with a subtotal of 2,279.99?

Asus m16 is better with ryzen 9 cpu.
I'm hoping so. But the thing is I wanted this monitor for gaming, not productivity and there the RTX3070 with more TDP should be better, even with i7 vs i9. The other advantages for Asus were lower price by $100, which honestly is not a deal breaker for me and a better display, which usually won't be of much importance as I've brought a 27" monitor as well
