I have been using this for 6 months now and I have charged 4 times already, if you use the features like auto lock, it lasts like a a couple of weeks. So I disabled that and other advance features and now it lasts a month and change. That alone is not good enough reason to buy. The quality doesn't feel good while installing, I had a schlage before and it was great, battery laster like a year and it used 4 AA batteries. This one has its own battery that need that old mini USB cable to charge.
If the lock is exposed to rain then it keeps thinking someone is trying to unlock and it keeps saying wrong code and finishes battery in few hours.
I really wanted this to be good as I also have eufy cameras but it is not
That's an older model with the WiFi bridge
Completely different model. That model requires bridge. This one does not

My current august lock uses bluetooth or wifi combined with gps to see if you are getting closer to your door. When its 100ft it unlocks the door. So I just have to turn the doorknob to get in.
This is the same problem the automakers had with keyless entry systems when they were first introduced. A thief hiding nearby could wait until you were walking away from the car but were still within keyfob range, touch the door handle, and it would unlock for them. Or you could be sleeping in your bed, and they could touch the door handle of your car parked in the driveway, and it would unlock because your keyfob was sitting on the kitchen counter within range of the car.

They fixed it by adding a time-of-flight check. So the wireless challenge-response communication between the lock and the keyfob have to happen quickly enough, that based on the speed of the radio waves it knows the key is within a few feet of the car. 100 ft is way too big. (A few manufacturers tried to do it the cheap way and reduced the signal strength to reduce the range, but thieves just started using signal repeaters.)

That has me curious though. If you (and your phone) are inside the house and the door is locked, how does this know to keep the door locked when someone tries to open it from the outside?

3. I personally prefer real buttons, just feels better then this type of touch screen, not a deal breaker but still something to consider.
Since it's exterior-facing, I can understand why they wanted to use a touch screen instead of physical buttons. Dirt and dust can blow underneath the edges of buttons, eventually gumming them up so they don't work. But with a touch screen you can seal the edges so dirt can't get in. Being exposed to the outdoors makes it different from, say, the climate controls of your car, where getting rid of the buttons and knobs is just stupid.

But based on someone else's comment about rain, it sounds like they used a capacitive touchscreen. Those are extremely sensitive to water. The water will trigger the touchpad just like your finger, and if the screen is wet it may not properly register your finger touches (though Sony figured out a way to do it on their phones). They probably should've used a resistive touchscreen (less sensitive, but can be used even when underwater).

I've had this for a few months now. Overall, nice piece of hardware, battery life seems good, fingerprint reader is nice.

My main gripe is that if you leave the door open for 3 minutes, the deadbolt pops out so the auto-lock feature can "save battery". I have slammed my deadbolt right into the door molding multiple times because of this. There is no way to disable it other than disabling the auto-lock feature, and that is the whole reason I bought this lock. The auto-lock also only works some of the time, and seems to only like full 90 degree door openings and closings. I put in a feature request with a support representative a few weeks ago to add the ability to disable this.

I have not found any other way to actuate the lock, since there is no IFTTT integration. Support has also claimed there is no integration with their own door sensor.

So, if you use it like a normal door, it's great. The firmware could be better and then this would be incredible.

Is it the same device as the one in the Costco combo promotion (smart deadbolt + door bell camera, at $220) a few days ago?

You may have a different version. I have this lock and it instantly unlocks and locks, less than 1s. Also, I don't have to wake it up
There is only one version with built in wifi.

Instantly, when locked with the finger print, but when locked with the cancel button, it takes a few seconds, are you experiencing something else ?

I'll chime in. I've had this since January and I works very good for us. I like being able to see via notification when family stops by my house when I'm not home. Or who comes to visit and feed my dog.
I mainly got it because my family absolutely sucks at remembering to lock the door when they come home. This has taken care of that for me with the auto lock feature.
Battery life has been good for us so far. I got the one with the wifi bridge like a month before the model with internal wifi came out. That pissed me off, but the bridge works fine. I just wish they had it so 1 bridge could control more than 1 device in the event someone got a Second lock.
I have accidentally shut the door and slammed into in the molding because of it auto locking while the door was left open. That's more our fault than the door.
I've also had several correspondence with Eufy support and they were always easy to get ahold of via email in a day or 2. Overall, would recommend. I've probably sold a few more for eufy by people coming over to the house and seeing it, and then getting one for themselves.

Isn't the 2K wireless doorbell with the storage base usually around $160-200 and the wired lower end 2K doorbell which typically sells for less than $80-150? The wireless does not require existing doorbell and would be easier to install. The camera seems to be the same for the wireless 2k doorbell. Do you have any comparison sites or links that shows the wired doorbell camera being superior to the wireless one? Anyways, this smart lock is a good deal if that's all you wanted. I was looking more for wireless doorbell and the lock was a nice throw in. Also bought the Blink Doorbell so I can compare... Can't pass that up for $35.
The wired doorbell has a pre-roll recording so it captures people as they approach and not just as they are leaving. The battery one may trigger as they are waking away.

Is yours this newer one with the 10,000 mA battery or the prior version that needs a WiFi bridge?

Does this have apple home kit integration? I bought a $100 lock with apple home kit integration from Amazon over a year ago and it has been fantastic. No app to download. Since it is apple home kit compatible, I can just the home app and use Siri. It is called vocolinc

I have 2 of these. Batteries last around 6 months.
Love the lock but Eufy needs to find a way that you can have more than 1 lock and need only 1 key.
Auto lock works but whether you have it set for 1 second or 3 minutes the auto lock will engage after 3 minutes even if the door is open. Since I already had a contact sensor on the door I disabled the auto lock in the eufy app and wrote an alexa routine to auto lock the door when the sensor closes. Now the door only locks if the door is actually shut. In the garage it also stops any music playing and turns off the lights.
Wifi uses huge amount of energy compared to bluetooth. If it's wifi enabled, I don't know how a company could make one that the batteries lasted long.

According to me, you shouldn't get one that has wifi at all, or any connection to the internet. These brands are coming out with wifi front door knobs all at the same time. That doesn't mean they are secure. In fact we know they are very insecure at this stage. Consumers assume anything on the market is safe, so they are buying up these things. The security is horribe so all these people who buy are guenny pigs. By my estimates these things wont be secure even 10 years from now.

Better to get a quality keypad version with a heavy build (Doesn't have to be heavy, just not light). No wifi. You even skirt replacing batteries every 4-5 months.

I also don't recommend most people to have any inside cameras. Better to get wired cameras, 4k would be good, and have them all over the outside of your house. If they get in your house they have to approach your house and you will have high quality video of them. If you system is hacked they only see what is outside of your house.

If you want to go further. Inside your house have window sensors, breaking glass sensors.

Get this costco black friday deal for wired cameras. This is the type you want.

If you want to go further (optional, the 4k wired costco cameras are the most important part)
For inside get in on this simplisafe 50% off BF deal. It's still going as writing of this post. (Roll your own system (I'd skip the cameras):

I bought the the WiFi model from Amazon. The first one failed in 3 month due to fingerprint reading problem. The second one got a striker problem, the striker was able to go forward but not backward. When I tried to unlock using app and prints, the striker remain lock but the app shown unlocked. Their customer service was great, I got replacement within a week.

Yes it is. The combo was a better deal in my opinion. I wanted a wireless doorbell more than the lock so it definitely made sense for me to get it. Plus with Costco's return policy and such, it's too good to pass up.

I believe the auto unlock feature not only uses the wifi but also the bluetooth to sense your proximity to the lock. It doesnt unlock when the phone is already inside the house. Its based on the august app and gps. You'd have to leave the house beyond 100ft or some distance, then it will auto lock. When you return into the range, getting closer and closer to the house then it will auto unlock. Actual distance of autounlocking is probably just 10ft but the perimeter range is larger. It is sometimes buggy though, it sometimes doesnt auto unlock until I'm standing at the door for 10 seconds. Annoying, but I have the keypad so I use that to get in. You can se the auto lock to go after you shut the door.

I bought the eufy lock to give it a try. I'll compare using the fingerprint versus losing the auto unlock. Hopefully the battery in the eufy will last at least as long as the august. Or if there was some adaptor to use regular batteries that would be nice.
